President John welcomed our Members, Visitors and Guests. He invited Peter to introduce himself, and asked Jane to read our Club Invocation.
Pamela, on behalf of Fellowship, wished Hans a very Happy Birthday for Thursday 12 th October when he and Valerie will be on their Mediterranean cruise.
Barbara presented the good news that she had finally found a Gestor to obtain the certificate that allows our Club to use Marbella Town Hall venues at no charge. Importantly, this includes the Traphiche in San Pedro that we require for our Music Festival event.
Barbara praised this Gestor for his diligence and efficiency, highly recommending him to anyone who requires such services.
Ralph asked any Members who require a name badges to contact him directly by e-mail: ralph@maracollection.de. The more we order the cheaper the unit cost so it would be good to order more than five at a time. Made from plastic, these badges do not weigh much and are retained by a magnet on the back.
Martin said the poster for the Gala Charity Swing Ball taking place on November 18 th at Puente Romano is being finalised. A joint effort of TRE and RCM-G, this is in aid of Mental Health following an RI initiative called “Hang on to Life”. We have the responsibility to sell as many tickets as possible at 125€, and hope to make 35-40€ per ticket, plus proceeds from a raffle. The ticket price was reduced to 125€ in order to sell as many tickets as possible.
Jane and Lyne organised the Meeting raffle, which raised 145€. To our amusement after the tickets were picked we found that the two bottles bought especially for the raffle had been drunk as they were on the table with the lunch wine! Our visitor, Peter, kindly produced two more bottles, one of which was won by Jane herself who insisted on putting it back into the draw.
The Meeting concluded at 1600hrs with our customary toast to Rotary the World, Universe and Multiverse over.
