John, our president, firstly welcomed all our guests and members to our Thursday Lunch, he wished Pamela a speedy recovery from her illness. He then asked Jeanna to read the invocation.
Jane gave a presentation on the activities of our charity projects for 23/24. Our objective is to help vulnerable and disadvantaged people, especially women and children, focusing on mental and physical health, nutrition, a safe place to stay and education. Seventy percent of money will go to local charities and 30% to international charities. Jane has already distributed her presentation to the club's business WhatsApp, so it will not be repeated here.
John then asked our regular guest, Colin Suckling, to give us a few words on his Rotary Club in Lisburn NI. Colin explained that they have similar numbers in his club, around 40 members. They recently held a golf tournament through which they raised a whopping £20,000. This really was a successful outcome and raises the bar for our Golf event in December.
Victor on behalf of the Fellowship Team and the Club wished the following a
very happy birthday
Sophie on 14th
Rani on 15 th
Jeanne on 18 th
Jeanne being the youngest at 21 and Sophie oldest at 23. Figure out Rani’s!
Lorraine and Martin mentioned the Swing Ball in Puente Romano on 18 November as major fundraiser for our Club. Tickets will be around €170 and it is being organized by Shane O’ Shea. It should be a spectacular evening. All of the ticket money will go to our club's Charity account as Lorraine and Martin have secured some very generous sponsors. More to follow on this event shortly.
We then had a very interesting talk on the joys of dry needling and physiotherapy from the talented physiotherapist Sonia Yanez, She has 13 years’ experience in her profession. You can get further information on www.soniayanezphysio.com.
