Monday 18.05.2020 Lockdown Letter 6 -----  Possible return Wednesday 20.05.2020

Unfortunately our carefully planned return to golf has been superceded by rumours and press releases . It takes quite a bit of organisation to open a golf course at short notice especially under the present conditions . The last update from the GUI if the club can have everything in place is Wednesday 20.05.2020 , we still have not received definite approval by the way .

Peter has already sent out the protocols we as a club are required to adhere to. These protocols are also available on our website here

All members are individually responsible for adhering to them plus as a club, council members are also individually liable and responsible as there could be severe ramifications for non-compliance.

I am using this note to try to precis these instructions but you should go through the protocols attachment yourselves as there were certain things like 2 balls or 3 balls where the club was given a choice but the rest we are adhering to instructions that come with penalties if we don’t follow them

The course can only be played via the BRS booking time system therefore all members must be registered. Very straightforward, go to the Club website -Tee reservations -click on members area -click sign up button-complete form-click register. Thats It ! (you will receive email confirmation. REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR JUNK/SPAM Folders)

Members with clubs etc in lockers should come up TUESDAY-THURSDAY  between 10.00am-4.00pm and retrieve their clubs as the club continues to be locked down, toilets and locker room will not be open (If you are unable to come up at those times Bill has kindly agreed to come in between 6-8 on Wednesday / Thursday evening for those who can’t make those times) . As per the instructions- members coming up to play should arrive 15 mins early for their tee-off time with all their golf equipment and ready to play , hydration etc., wait in their car until their time then make their way to the tee. WE MUST OPERATE SOCIAL DISTANCING AT ALL TIMES .The club are required to monitor this through council members and designated officials plus our CCTV camera system .We are required to retain all time sheets as part of compliance procedures ie if a member became ill the records may be required to provide a trail of who that member played golf with as part of the testing procedures for the COVID-19 virus. YOU MUST THEREFORE GO OUT AS PER THE BRS BOOKING !

Tee times will be maximum of 3 players , intervals 14 mins. Golf times will be from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday and 7.00am to 5.00pm Saturday & Sunday. Times can be booked 2 Days in advance (opens at 8.00 pm ) The suggestion from the club to ensure fairness for everyone; members play 2 games maximum during Mon-Friday . Weekends Saturday-Sunday just one game however if times remained at 8.00pm on Saturday then it would be possible to book another game for Sunday.

Due to the position the Executive has placed us in we have had to suspend the 2 day rule so the timesheet will open on Tuesday at 8.00 pm for Wednesday ( IF ! ) we receive confirmation from the GUI we are allowed to proceed. Plus for this week only if members could just play once it is just to be fair to everyone as we started midweek.

I know some of this appears somewhat officious however it is what we are required to do (see attached ) We must remember this is a balancing act to allow us to play our sport plus keep everyone safe and if we comply it should mean we return to normality very soon . It is essential we follow these instructions to the letter any breach could have serious consequences for the club and as a result will incur a severe penalty for the member. To finish on a lighter note this will hopefully only be for a short time, it is a trial period initially, if there are tweaks needed we will monitor and adjust. Bear in mind as volunteers we are simply trying to make a difficult situation more efficient. We haven’t been able to develop a system for members wishing to hire buggies yet. It’s something we are looking into depending on demand. Members buggies can only be operated by one person.

If you have any queries please email .

Stay safe and Play well 😊

Joe, Bill, Peter & Roy ( BRS & Match & Handicap convenor )
