A nice result yesterday, with Jordan Thompson coming from a set down to cover the -2.5 game handicap against Christopher Eubanks.

A couple of plays to kick off the night. As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Good Luck Today,

Sousa vs Cuevas (Approx 4:30am AEDST)

You may have guess based on the last couple of weeks that I will continue to back in Cuevas when he sits at what I perceive to be a value price. The value comes today from Sousa’s win in round 1 over last weeks Cordoba winner in Londero. The money well and truly came for Sousa, with Londero struggling to back up (and rightfully so). I think the -3.5 game handicap for Cuevas is very solid, especially when you look at the head to head on clay and how these two match up overall.

Cuevas would need a significant dip in form here to struggle against Sousa. If he continues to look after his serve well, then I predict this to be a relatively routine victory for Pablo. I feel Sousa will need to be reliant on Cuevas having a bad day to feature competitively here, and looking at the last fortnight I just cannot see Cuevas dropping his form to that extent.

A 2.5 unit play seems the right move on the -3.5 game handicap for Cuevas. I like him to win in straight sets as well.

Suggested Bet

2.5 units Cuevas -3.5 game handicap vs Sousa at $2 at Bet365/Topsport

Millman vs Garcia-Lopez (Approx 3:00am AEDST)

Another value selection comes from New York overnight, with Millman sitting with a very nice 3.5 game handicap against Garcia-Lopez. I think the Garcia-Lopez form has been overrated slightly, as Popyrin (who was defeated by GGL 2 days ago) has really struggled to back up his hyped run at Australian Open.

I feel this match may follow a similar route to GGL’s match in Sydney against Schwartzman. I think Millman is too consistent for Garcia-Lopez, who this year has relied a little more on opponent dips in form than his own form being fantastic. Millman looked very good in Melbourne, with a dominant  win over Delbonis, before taking eventual Quarter Finallist in Bautista-Agut to 5 sets in what was one of the matches of the tournament. He also looked solid and settled in New York, using doubles as a way to acclimatise to conditions.

The stats from Garcia-Lopez’s win over Popyrin do look good, however Popyrin was fresh off a qualifying loss to Schnur, and then got the late call up as a lucky loser, so you cannot read too much into the match. I feel this match rests on the racquet of Millman, and based off recent form, he looks a solid prospect here to cover the -3.5 game handicap. Millman should be too good here in my opinion.

Suggested Bet

2.5 units Millman -3.5 game handicap at $1.97 at Unibet (better odds elsewhere)
