Here's a moment of inquiry for you. How often do you leave your email for a few hours or even a day without feeling the need to reply instantly or receive a reply instantly? Do you check your email on holidays, or do you have a plan in place to receive truly urgent items without logging in?
We received this out of office reply from Jack Hirsch-Allen with LinkedIn, some of you will remember him from our ASPECT Summit in Vancouver. We loved it so much, we wanted to share.
"I am traveling with family until 11/15. While I will be working through most of this time, I will be reducing meetings, particularly by video, and my responses will be delayed. Please in turn respond when it suits your own work-life balance. I encourage you to make guiltless work-life choices and support flexible working. If urgent, please text"
If you joined Terry Small's session at the ASPECT Conference, you will have heard a similar idea. Is anyone doing the 20 minute daily vacation?
