CEO Report

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the conference live. The feedback has been exceptionally positive and the sessions engaging. If you missed registering, not to worry, we will open up post-conference registration on Monday, giving you access to all of the conference recordings until December 31st.

As I quickly write this, I'm waiting for the 10:30 breakout sessions to start. I can't wait to hear what the presenters have to say and love the attendee interaction through the chatbox. I'm also really looking forward to the recordings of the sessions I cannot attend live. That has been one of the best attributes of a virtual conference to an in-person conference -- I can attend all the sessions!

Here are a couple of links from this morning's keynote and chatbox discussion that might interest you:

Permission to be Human

Here's a moment of inquiry for you. How often do you leave your email for a few hours or even a day without feeling the need to reply instantly or receive a reply instantly? Do you check your email on holidays, or do you have a plan in place to receive truly urgent items without logging in?

We received this out of office reply from Jack Hirsch-Allen with LinkedIn, some of you will remember him from our ASPECT Summit in Vancouver.  We loved it so much, we wanted to share.

"I am traveling with family until 11/15. While I will be working through most of this time, I will be reducing meetings, particularly by video, and my responses will be delayed. Please in turn respond when it suits your own work-life balance. I encourage you to make guiltless work-life choices and support flexible working. If urgent, please text"

If you joined Terry Small's session at the ASPECT Conference, you will have heard a similar idea. Is anyone doing the 20 minute daily vacation?

Member Feature - Beacon Community Services

As always, ASPECT loves to feature our members and the work they do. Just send us an email to info@aspect.bc.ca if you would like your work featured. Alice Van Blokland, Director with Beacon Community Services, is excited to announce a new youth employment program called JETS. This program offers 15-30 year olds "a jump" on work skills. Click here for the flyer.
