November 2020

FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome to BPW 2020-2021

 "Growing Together"

Hello everyone and welcome to November!  A time to reflect and be thankful.

We ended October by celebrating BPW Week.  We had to forgo events of the past and again get creative during the pandemic.  In spite of this, I feel it was a great week of honoring our members with our Membership Spotlights. The rain held out for the Woman and  Boss of the Year reception at Crooked Creek Winery Downtown.  It was held to a small, but excited group of BPW members and friends and family of WOY Luberta Lytle and BOY Emily Owen.  A huge thank you goes out to BPW Week Chair, Emily Kracht and her committee for a job well done!

And now to talk about November...unfortunately we as a board decided to cancel the November General Meeting with the current CoVid restrictions in place.  We still have some plans in the works to reach out to everyone...so stay tuned.

We hope to be able to meet and hold our Christmas Party in December, but again if this is not possible we will still reach out to everyone in a special way.

We will forgo bell ringing through the Salvation Army this December and once again adopt two siblings through the BCMW Adopt a Family Program.  Cary Day is working on a link so that everyone can still donate.  This will be the same as how we collected money for the Ladies Night Out tickets.  It will be a secure site for you to enter your credit/debit card information.  All funds will be directly deposited into the BPW bank account and used only for the purchase of Christmas gifts.  This donation link will be emailed out soon.

One item of business requires attention this month even though we can not hold a meeting.  The nomination for OWWI needs to be voted on so that Committee Chair, Sylia Mahle can inform the nominee and begin the lengthy amount of paperwork involved.  The board approved a motion to nominate an individual for OWWI, so that it could be voted on by the general members.  I will be sending out a ballot by email with the nominees name and asking for you to vote YAY or NAY.

Lastly, I encourage everyone to check on your fellow sisters.  A simple card, phone call or text could be just what someone needs right now.

Take care and have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!

THANK YOU!
I would like to thank everyone who helped make this year's BPW Week a success!
The Committee:  Tena Hoyt, Mary Davis, Sharon Sanders, Melodie Ainslie, and Tishcia Daugherty truly hit this week out of the park!

The Boss and Woman of the Year reception at Crooked Creek Winery was a really great, fun event to get folks out of the house during this pandemic.  Thank You to President Tammy Resch of Flower Girl for the beautiful arrangements and for the lovely introduction!  And Thank You to Stephanie House for the tasty desserts!
The whole evening was a HIT!

Emily Kracht, BPW Week Chair

THANK YOU!
I thank everyone for the beautiful cards, thoughtful posts on Facebook and the personal phone calls I received following the death of Norman.  I am missing him but a peace that he is no longer hurting.  We had a wonderful life together and I will always chuckle with the nickname he gave our club.  WPA as he called us--Women Piddling Around!

Sincerely,
Sally Tiemann
