Hello and Welcome to March Rediscover Peterhead Newsletter.
The ups and downs of the pandemic could not have been imagined and I truly admire particularly the business community for doing what they can in their individual business to try and stay the course. We have seen businesses change and adapt to the change in situation and we have been delighted in the take up of grants and assistance that we have offered to levy payers during the year. I hope that the daily Facebook posts and the monthly newsletters have been of some assistance during this time and we will continue to do this.
With reductions in the spread of the virus and the roll out of the vaccine we have seen a route map out of the current lockdown and now we see a light at the end of what has been a long tunnel. To help us along the way we have organised again the Producers Food Market for the first Saturday of the Month. We are viewing this as a wee kick start to end of - the lockdown and the effective reopening of of our town centre. On the back of this we will, as restrictions permit, really market the town centre and its businesses and organise a programme of initiatives and events to bring the public safely back to using and enjoying Peterhead town centre – the way we did before this!
I thank you all for your attention and patience and hopefully we can report progress in Aprils newsletter.

Next scheduled market will be Saturday 3rd April, with a focus on Food and Drink, and held at Drummers Corner/Marischal Street. Whilst restrictions remain in place, we are permitted to operate this outside market and once again bring some local and regional produce to the town centre. This will feature both producers from the town and the wider area bringing a mix of products to try and buy. Fish, beer, dahl pies…… and even locally produced home cooking from Indonesia!
We are super excited to see work has started on the upgrade of Drummer's Corner, and will be working closely with the contractor to deliver a fabulous market on Saturday 3rd April. This means the layout will be a little different from our last market with stalls being located to accommodate the fenced off area on Drummer's Corner.
We will be working hard to ensure a well organised and safe market with a one-way system in operation.
Do you want to be a stall holder? We urge any businesses who are interested in taking part to contact Alasdair Boyne on email@example.com or 07708 169 813 as soon as possible.
