Brexit here we come...
Many of you have been with us since early 2016 (and even late 2015) when street stalls started in Croydon for the referendum we knew was coming.
On the 31st January we enter the final phase and finally leave the EU. We still have a transition period but on the 31st we again become an independent nation. Most of us will be shocked to the extent the political and media establishment in this country were willing to throw away democracy when they lost.
The people spoke, and kept speaking. The parties that didn't listen suffered massive setbacks at the election.
Before the serious negotiations of the future relationship get underway all that is left to do is celebrate!
The Croydon team will be in what became the de facto command centre of the referendum campaign locally, the Skylark in South Croydon from 8pm on Friday. Nothing formal but please do pop by if you fancy sharing a drink.
If you want to go to parliament the Leavers of Britain will be meeting up in Parliament Square. Check on the site at https://leaversofbritain.co.uk/events/have-you-cake-and-eat-it/ for more info.
Leavers of Croydon Drinks 16th January
We had Leavers of Croydon drinks on the 16th Jan. With a late change of venue following the sudden closure of the Milan Bar due to sewage problems, they didn’t get off to the best start. However we rearranged at the last minute for The George and had a great evening cramped in. Thanks to all who joined us. Sorry to anyone we couldn’t get the message out to on the venue change.
Green Policy Debate
The Coulsdon and Purley Debating Society are hosting a debate titled ‘Implementing green policies to combat global warming is imperative to save the Earth’. The society enjoys friendly and often topical debates and on this occasion Mike is opposing the motion.
If the subject is of interest the debate takes place on Monday, February 3rd, 7.30pm, at Old Coulsdon Day Centre, Grange Park, Old Coulsdon. CR5 1EH. Visitors are welcome.

Newly risen, how brightly you shine
Mike Swadling undertook the sacrifice of visiting Australia, to be able to share some thoughts on their politics with you.
"It’s safe to say most people didn’t pay too much attention to the protest preferring to enjoy for view of Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House"
"Despite moves to ‘collaborate’ and align laws across all the states in Australia, as we find leaving the EU, more devolved power at a local level, meeting the different needs of different areas is immensely positive"
