Rogue Runners

July Newsletter

Coaches' Update

Hi Rogues!

We're a couple of days 'late' with our July newsletter, but it was for a good reason - the Exec Team was relaxing and recharging. Last week we saw the city starting to see some bits of normalcy return and we've loved seeing that energy feed into everyone's early stages of training. We know everyone is eager to come back together as group, and we are too! We're working on our return to in-person workouts and are hopeful that will be able to meet-up soon. Any in-person relaunch plans will be announced in the Facebook group, on Instagram, and through the newsletter.

This week, we're expecting to see temperatures spike pretty high, so please set yourself up for success and hydrate through the day and use effort as your guide during workouts. The temperature will get 'easier' to manage as we all acclimate through the summer, and changing your perspective from being pace driven to effort driven will absolutely yield fitness.

As a few of you head towards the end of the first training block of the fall cycle, a reminder to check in with us! We need to hear from you. Before we develop your next block of a training plan, we want to know how your training has been going and how you're feeling. Send us an email checking in!

Baycrest Brain Run

Did you happen to catch the great presentation that Rosanna Olsen gave in March? If you did, you heard her tease the annual Brain Run. This year there is a fundraising component to raise awareness about brain health and critical funding for Baycrest. She has shared a promo code for the Rogue Runners!
"I would love for you all to go enjoy the Baycrest Brains on display this summer and if you are interested in taking part in this virtual fundraising event please register using the link below, and use the promo code "walkrun50" for 50% off the registration fee (full price is $50).  Any extra money you are able to donate will go toward research, care, and education at Baycrest."

High Park Movement Survey

Since we all spend a lot of time in High Park, we know it's likely that you may have some thoughts about the ways runners, pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles move through the space.

The City of Toronto is launching a study called the High Park Movement Strategy to improve the travel network for High Park and better serve park users and the community. As a first step, they've launched a short survey to ask residents about how they use the park, and how that's changed since the start of the pandemic. This is a great opportunity to have your voice heard and help make the park safer for all its users!

Group runs are on hiatus until further notice.
We miss you all and can't wait until it's safe to be able to run with you again.
