This month: Candidates tell us why Collegeville Matters to them!
Aidsand Wright-Riggins
Mayoral Candidate

Collegeville matters to me personally because for the last 30 years, this borough been my happy place to come home to.   My experience is that Collegeville matters because every person who lives, works, worships, studies, or plays here is perceived to be a person of infinite worth and value.

Catherine Kernen
Borough Council Candidate

Collegeville matters to me because it is where I live, work, and volunteer.  It matters that our town is safe, well maintained, and provides us with the services that we need for our families.  It matters that in Collegeville we have a clean environment and access to nature through our parks and trails.  And it always matters that in general, everyone is treated with respect and dignity.

Gary Hoffmann
Borough Council Candidate

Collegeville matters to me because I want my daughter to grow up in community whose residents show mutual respect for one another and turn away from ignorance and prejudice. And it is one where we as leaders listen to our residents and bring the community together.

Marion McKinney

Collegeville matters to me because it has been my home for 23 years. It's the perfect place to raise a family and serve the growing community.

Message from

Collegeville Democrats

In 2017, we came together and changed the political history of the Borough!  We elected four Democrats to Borough Council and a Democratic Mayor!  The three remaining Council seats were flipped to “Blue” in 2019!

During this election cycle, we have to protect our seats and our community's progress toward being more livable and welcoming.

In the past four years our team of elected Democrats have been fiscally responsible stewards of taxpayer money, maximizing Borough revenue and maintaining steady tax rates; they have provided full access to residents for Council meetings via Zoom during the pandemic and have provided a monthly newsletter for Borough residents; they have been responsive to residents' concerns and advice; they support our first responders and our local businesses and have worked in concert with Ursinus College to revitalize our business districts.

This year Mayor Aidsand-Wright-Riggins, Borough Council President Cathy Kernen, Borough Council President Pro Tempore Gary Hoffmann, and Councilwoman Marion McKinney are up for-re-election.  And Dean Miller is seeking election for the fourth seat that will be vacated by Shannon Spencer.

Collegeville Democrats is dedicated to making 2021 the year for another Democratic victory in the Borough of Collegeville.  But to do this, we will need funding and "boots on the ground" to reach out to voters who might not always vote in local elections. Our team has developed a strong fundraising plan, door knocking is ongoing and we are confident that we have laid the groundwork for another successful Council campaign.

The only way we can ensure victory in November is to get our voters out to the polls! While the voter registration and Democratic turnout numbers in Collegeville look good for keeping these four Borough Council seats in Democratic hands for the next four years, your donations will help us reach out to voters to keep turnout high.

In the year 2021, please consider donating $20.21 to help us pay for this year’s election efforts. To streamline our online donation process, we are now using ActBlue to accept donations.
