Redistricting Update

League representatives Candalynn Johnson and Norman Turrill presented at the Day at the Legislature on Feb. 18th. The campaign, People Not Politicians has submitted three initiative petitions about redistricting to the Secretary of State. They all are for the creation of independent redistricting commission for drawing voting boundaries for local and Congressional districts statewide. The Secretary of State has written ballot titles that are acceptable to the campaign. The ballot titles have been challenged in the Oregon Supreme Court. This was expected by the campaign. There is no specific timeline for the Court’s review. So, we wait.
The Washington County Unit has scheduled a forum on redistricting at the Tualatin Library for May 28th at 7 p.m. for people to learn more. Please attend and spread the word!
