Theatre 1308 in Calgary is celebrating their grand opening with the Bright Side Festival, including an art show curated by Julya! The show will include four pieces made by Steve and Helen. Steve not only always looked on the bright side, he also loved making and sharing art, so we’re especially looking forward to celebrating his memory through the inclusion of his works in this show. Please join us!
Steve Hajnoczky’s Artwork of the Month
This month’s photo is from the eyeSnowScape series created by Steve and Helen in 2018. Created at Sarcee hospice, this piece exemplifies not only Steve’s skilled eye and creative spirit, but also his dedication to seizing every opportunity to make beautiful things and share them with his family and the world. These pieces will be on display at the Bright Side Festival—see above for more info. These pieces are also now on sale in the teacozy store. Panels can be purchased in the set shown here, or separately upon request.
Each monthly newsletter will feature one of Steve’s works as a way of celebrating his life and art. If you know of any of his friends who might like to receive these monthly newsletters, please do send them this link: https://www.ateacozyisasometimes.com/contact-and-connect/#/newsletter/

Chapbook Posts and Sale
The chapbook Variations on the Stillness of Motion, which includes seventeen watercolour paintings and poems by Helen, is on sale now for $10. This work uses a repetitive painting method and elliptical writing style as a way to emulate the ebb and flow of grief.
You can also follow along on Instagram where Helen will be posting each page of the work for free, using the hashtag #VariationsOnTheStillnessOfMotion If you don’t use Instagram, you can follow the posts from the website, too.
