Well, week 5 and we all seem to be coping okay. What's your secret to keeping it together?
Is it that regular exercising you've always wanted to do? Maybe catching up on all those books you wanted to read. Or pets to keep you company (and clean up after). The shops are full of stock again, but low on flour. So are you all home baking bread, cakes and fancy pastries!?
Well if you get tired of your own company - or your pets - then take a look at our group activities that you can join. It really is easy to do and we're happy to support you to get connected. You can even bring your pets along.

Lockdown Recipes
During one of our befriending calls, a member shared a quick and easy recipe using basic ingredients and a handy microwave.

Susan's Microwave
Syrup Sponge Pudding
|
|
|
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons syrup (or jam)
- 2 oz flour
- 2 oz butter
- 2 oz sugar
- 1 egg
Method:
- Put 2 tablespoons of syrup in a microwave proof bowl
- Mix the flour, sugar, butter and eggs together
- Pour mixture into the microwave bowl, over the syrup
- Place bowl in microwave and cook for 4 minutes
- Eat
Apparently it's best eaten as soon as it's made, but be very careful not to burn your tongue on the syrup.
The sponge is very pale when cooked, but tastes delicious - especially with custard!

Thanks, Susan!
We've included a picture above that we found on the interweb, but we'd love see one made by one of our readers. So quick, check your kitchen cupboards, make some tasty deliciousness, and remember to take a photo before you finish it all. And then send it to us.

Out & About
(it's okay if you're shopping or exercising)

Hello from me, Arlie, one of the Lifelines volunteer managers!
It's been a pretty busy month and although I don't have a garden, I'm grateful for the sun being out and the longer days. I've been fortunate enough to be able to go out for daily walks and have been inspired by the beautiful blue skies and some of the street art I've seen.
I'm not a professional photographer in any sense of the word but perhaps I will be by the time lockdown is over!
Here's some photos I took last week:

A poster on London Road - Community is Kindness.

A very Brighton bit of street art!
Famous lyrics from Fatboy Slim, a DJ based in Portslade. The words struck me as we are currently very much in a 'right here, right now' situation. I also love the song!

Sue's Quick Quiz
Last week's answer: It was Po, a very long Italian river, but they were all weird little kids tv characters. Po was the red one.
Okay, yes, we all watched it.

This week's question:
What did a chandler originally make?
Was it:
Well...

Dancing Emails
We love positive news, especially at the moment. We can't get together for dance classes, so our Woodingdean dance tutor, Julie, has started sending emails to keep in touch with the her class.
A really nice way to keep in touch and talk, not just about dance. One of the many ways people are connecting and reaching out. What a star.
