Dear Aero Club of East Africa Members!
Please stop in at the bar this Sunday from 5:00-7:00 pm for a drink with Robert DeLaurentis, Zen Pilot who is passing through Nairobi on a Polar Circumnavigation.
On November 16, 2019, Zen Pilot and Robert DeLaurentis departed San Diego in his aircraft “Citizen of the World” on a six-month, 26,000 mile, 26-country polar circumnavigation to inspire people and organizations to live their impossibly big dreams through the wonder of aviation and the power of courageous action. On December 17, 2019, the 116th anniversary of the Wright Brother's first flight, during an 18-hour historic flight, Robert overcame many in-air challenges and accomplished several first-time aviation achievements including the first time an aircraft has flown biofuels over the South Pole.
The Citizen is a highly modified 1983 Gulfstream Turbine Commander 900 with an increased range from 2000 nm to 4600 nm.
Over 90 sponsors, including Honeywell, Jeppesen and Lightspeed are onboard and global impact is soaring. Citizen is carrying a NASA Wafer Scale Spacecraft experiment and a microfiber particle experiment for Scripps Institute of Oceanography, filming a documentary in 4K with a professional film crew that includes interviews with local residents in stopover cities, answering the question, “What does it mean to be a Citizen of the World for the World?” The flight intends to connect the South Pole to the North Pole and everyone in between on a mission of global peace: One Planet, One People, One Plane: Oneness for Humanity.
