Thank you for making Together We Can part of your organization's journey. Our action steps will empower you to live a lifestyle of greater understanding and empathy for others while impacting our communities for generations to come.

The history of Native Americans from the colonial period to present day is one of great struggle and resilience. Little of this history is taught in American classrooms. Today, Native Americans continue to face challenges bred from the past while also serving in groundbreaking capacities across the nation.

In addition to understanding their contributions to the First Thanksgiving, this month we highlight challenges uniquely experienced by Native Americans due to colonialism and beyond. We also share a perspective of joy and gratitude as we enter the Holiday Season.

Listen to our monthly audio introduction and perspective (4:48) from our co-founder Rob Crain.

Questions to Ponder & Discuss

  • What history of Native Americans is most impactful to you? Why?
  • How have American policies toward Native Americans and African Americans sought the same ends with different means?
  • How should we talk to children about the history of Native Americans?
  • How often are you grateful for the “ordinary” things in your life; do you allow yourself to find joy in those moments of gratitude?
