Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year

The SCCPTA newsletter is back in action and ready to bring you important information for running your PTA. Be sure to stay tuned each month for more updates, events, recognition, and fun!
Seminole County’s PTA & PTSA leadership is the best!  Every local unit has reported their officers to Florida PTA.  I am copied on Florida PTA’s e-mails confirming receipt of audits and 990s, and they are arriving to my in box daily.  Our membership numbers are rising every week.  Keep up the awesome work on compliance!

August and September are super busy for PTA & PTSA, and I wanted to share a light-hearted short story.  A little comic relief after all our hard work!  Shirley Jackson, best known for “The Lottery”, also wrote articles for women’s magazines.  Here for your enjoyment is “Charles” from 1948.  Read to the end — the big twist occurs at a PTA meeting!

The Foundation’s Tools 4 Seminole Schools’ Annual Supply Drive is July 9th through September 28th. Your efforts will provide essential school supplies to keep our shelves stocked all year long. Our goal is to ensure all students have the supplies needed to be in school ready to learn. This program also offers SCPS teachers an opportunity to “shop” for classroom supplies and materials at no cost to them. To find out how you can support Tools 4 Seminole Schools and the students and teachers of Seminole County Public Schools, please check out our T4SS Supply Drive Toolkit or call 407.320.7768.

Join us Saturday, October 20, 2018 for the annual Mudwalk Spooky 5K Run/Walk at Winter Springs High School. The 5K will start at Winter Springs High School and run along the Cross-Seminole Trail and back to the high school to finish with our traditional pancake breakfast and awards presentation. The course will be decked out with our spooky theme for Halloween including friendly zombies and some ghoulish fun.

You and your PTA can also make a donation to this Foundation program. Can’t be there? Consider the sleep in option! Read more here:

The 22nd Annual Arts Alive in Seminole! is Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Westin Lake Mary. Since inception, thanks to the generous support of businesses and individuals, this event has raised more than $1.6 million to support the visual and performing arts programs in every school. Sponsors will have the opportunity to network with 300 or more influential community and business leaders in the Central Florida area who share a commitment to our excellent schools.
