Anti-Black Racism Task Force Report and Response

The University of Toronto Anti-Black Racism Task Force, which was established last year, has delivered its final report. In its response, the University administration accepted all 56 of the task force’s recommendations.

Early Researcher Award Round 16

The Ministry of Colleges & Universities has launched the Early Researcher Award (ERA) Round 16. A&S early career researchers are encouraged to consider this award of research funding up to $100,000 to build research teams. See details on the Research Funding Opportunities page.

A&S Research Services is offering proposal development support and reviews. Please email research.artsci@utoronto.ca and the central Research Services Office (samanthak.young@utoronto.ca, cc: andrea.hung@utoronto.ca) to advise of your intention to apply.

A&S Faculty Writing Circles: Spring Session

A&S is continuing its multidisciplinary Faculty Writing Circles initiative in the spring semester. These groups are intended for anyone interested in committing to a weekly session with colleagues to write without interruptions and with the support of a community. Interested faculty can complete the registration form or email the Teaching & Learning Office to learn more and join the virtual launch event on May 6, 2021, 3–4 pm.

NSERC and Mitacs: Streamlined Opportunity to Support University Research & Development

NSERC and Mitacs announced a new joint initiative to support R&D efforts of Canadian university researchers and partners in a single application submission and review process. For help finding/developing an industry partner, contact Glaucia Lima, Research Partnerships & Business Development Officer. For help with NSERC Alliance proposal development/editorial support, contact Monica Caverson, Funded Research Officer.

U of T Teaching and Learning Symposium 2021

This year's Symposium focuses on Teacher-as-Learner/Learner-as-Teacher and takes a broad approach to thinking about professional learning for instructors, including how the diversity of U of T and our communities at large impact, define and transform teaching and learning both for students and educators. This event, co-hosted by the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation and the Desautels Centre for Integrative Thinking, will be held online May 12–14, 2021.

Mitacs Information Session Recordings and Accelerate Opportunities

Recordings are now available for the A&S Mitacs information sessions for the sciences, social sciences and humanities. Also, a new curated list of Researchers Wanted for Mitacs Accelerate has been uploaded. Contact Glaucia Lima in A&S or Rhianna Malcolm at Mitacs for more information.

A&S Resources for Navigating Mental Health Supports

A new collection of mental health resources is available for faculty and staff, including resources for supporting students, which provides suggestions for responding to different situations, as well as information about campus and community resources.

Flexibility During COVID-19 Stay At Home Order

Under the stay-at-home order, the University requires all employees whose work can be performed from their homes to continue doing so until further notice. We will continue to deliver courses and exams remotely, with exceptions for those identified as essential. As a reminder, anyone who is required to come to campus must complete a COVID-19 self-assessment prior to doing so.
