Early Christian Sects 140–400 CE
This extremely detailed map illustrates the many local Christian movements that arose in the early stages of Christianity, and ultimately were expelled by the 'universal' or 'Catholic' church. During the first few centuries CE doctrinal disputes raged about good and evil, the nature of divinity, and the virgin birth. Notable amongst the early Christian sects were the Donatists, Ebionites, Manichaeans, and Arians.
