Education and Community

Two common themes keep arising as we review and add organizations to the GreenAngels platform: education and community.

It appears that the majority of us tend to be most passionate about causes that are familiar to us and are more affected by issues that are addressed within the support of a community of like-minded individuals.

Successful organizations take both of these factors into account by reaching out as educators and encouraging networking and communication. This month, we highlight two of the many organizations on our platform whose purpose is close to our hearts: the Salish Sea. There are many more!

What Cause Are You Passionate About?

The Power of Community

The Galiano Conservancy Association has been actively working to preserve the natural environment on their little island in the Salish Sea for 30 years. The Millard Learning Centre is a resource for students and teachers throughout the Salish Sea to learn about habitat restoration, marine health, native species identification, water conservation and renewable energy.

Fostering Responsible Stewardship

The Salish Sea Institute of Western Washington University is educating students and future changemakers about the Salish Sea ecosystem. Their transboundary approach to ecological solutions brings together scientists, leaders, educators, First Nations, Tribes and individuals from both Canada and the US, and puts learning and community first.

Update: FASD Awareness

We are so proud of our friend Lauren Richardson who raised over $2,000 to fund BC Transit bus posters in order to raise awareness of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Red Shoes Rock day is September 9, please spread the word! Many thanks to all of the green angels who supported Lauren 💚

It really doesn't get much cuter than this...

After a 50 year hiatus, 2019 marked the third consecutive year of the Penelekut Canoe Races, a culturally essential sporting event. Thank you for your support!

We are connectors.
