As the year comes to close, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your ongoing involvement and support of the World Refugee & Migration Council.

This year we have made considerable progress on important projects and activities — major forthcoming recommendations from our joint North and Central American Task Force on Migration, a focus on responding to the displacement crisis in Afghanistan, efforts to repurpose frozen assets of kleptocrats to support the forcibly displaced, and ongoing collaborations with the Global Independent Refugee Women Leaders (GIRWL) network, to mention a few.

Much work remains, however. The global system charged with responding to and protecting the rights of displaced persons is in trouble, as we see in the headlines daily from Central America to Belarus. Our recommendations from A Call to Action remain urgent and necessary.

I look forward to continuing our work together in 2022 and I wish you safe and healthy holidays.
