I don’t know about you but during these topsy turvy times, I’ve been looking at ways of adapting to this new and evolving way of living and working!
With this in mind, I thought a news update, released every couple of weeks or so, about all things careers might be useful for those of you who are students, school leavers, young job seekers, parents or anyone involved in supporting young people in their quest to find a fulfilling career path.

As we’ve communicated about careers’ advice and guidance in the past, I have included you in this mailing. I apologise if careers’ information is no longer relevant to you so please feel free to unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of this letter.
Virtual internships

Even though most companies are not currently offering school leavers or students face to face work experience, they are beginning to set up a number of virtual internships. This article provides excellent information about this very new way of achieving valuable experience for a future job, apprenticeship or university application.

GCSE retakes

West Kent College have recently launched a 1 year full-time GCSE study option for those students who just missed getting Grade 4s in Maths and or English Language. You will be expected to study for 5 GCSEs which, if achieved, will enable you to progress to A levels or BTEC Level Extended Diplomas.

In view of the added uncertainty of exam results and apprenticeship openings, this provides an educational safeguard and will help to future proof more career opportunities for students.

Is your teenager ready for the Job Search Challenge?

As the implications of the Coronavirus impact the job market, it's likely that it will become increasingly competitive for young people to secure work over the coming months.
In response to this, I have developed the Job Search Challenge for young people in Yr 13, those graduating in the summer or for those who are being made redundant.
It aims to build organisational and practical career management skills for young people who need help to be confident and equipped to apply for jobs and be successful at interview.
For more information on how I can help your young person be successful in their job search - check out the programme below!
