Welcome to The Trailhead, a bi-weekly collection of our top resources to orient & inspire you for the week ahead.

Campfire - Siempo

Listen Here

Guest: Andrew Dunn, Co-Founder & CEO of Siempo, a mindful home app for Android.

Theme: The frontier of digital wellness products

Big Idea: There is fertile ground for creativity in wellness apps. The fact that most digital products don’t design for wellness by default means that the ones that do can have a big, immediate impact. Siempo was created after 9 months of development. The features aren’t extremely complicated, but massively useful. The affordances offered by Android give product teams a lot of freedom to make the home screen more intentional.

Favorite Quote: "By some traditional Silicon Valley metrics, we didn’t ‘make it,’ but we’ve had a really big impact on a lot of people’s lives, the cultural conversation, the emerging industry. And the story’s not over. It’s yet to be revealed the impact of a single mother getting her life back together [by using a humane launcher]."

Fun Fact: Since this episode's recording, a community of volunteers has formed to keep improving Siempo's core product! 😊 There are opportunities to get involved in Siempo's marketing, design, and development. If interested, reply to this email and join our convos on Discord.

Switchback

Our most newsworthy content & updates

Switchback HQ has officially moved from Minneapolis to Bozeman, MT! I've been taking it slow and exploring the town's dog parks and trails. The first night my partner & I didn't have any silverware, so we made a pizza and ate it by hand while cheers-ing with our favorite beer.

Favorite Things

A few enjoyable goodies found along the trail the last few weeks
  • Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution - a dog training YouTube channel. I got my first dog last year and constantly check here whenever I feel like I don't know what I'm doing.
  • Center for Humane Technology's weekly conversations, which always gives me some needed hope that we can combat many of the damaging side effects of our tech.
  • The Jar, a short story by Luigi Pirandello that will put a smile on your face.
