MONOLOGUE ONE ($340.00) (Have a friend join you in signing up for this class, receive a 50$ discount for each of you!) (Class Limit 8 people)
Students receiver the core values of "First Folio Training"( The foundation of Chicago Shakespeare theater, where Susan was a teacher for many years and has performed in over 20 shows!!) but also, in addition, many other helpful tools in approaching Shakespeare's text (i.e. clarity, word-choice, poetic devices, and - most importantly - a truthful, honest connection to the characters one thought at a time). The goal is, of course to eventually let your character be a living, breathing human being who just happens to speak beautifully! You will promptly get to work on your very own Shakespeare verse monologue to apply technique. Every student receives a great deal of individual attention and if you feel, in any way, over your head with the Bard as a professional actor…This class is for you.
TWO sessions offered:

This is a five week course, taking you to the next level of verse speaking technique. The Book Thinking Shakespeare by Barry Edelstein will be required reading for this course. Mr. Edelstein is the Artistic Director of the Old Globe in San Diego, and a former faculty member at the Juilliard School. THE NEW PRINTING is available NOW and we are thrilled to have it once again available for your education! Its a great, fun read!! !Available at Target.com and on Amazon!! The knowledge in the book and this course is almost certain to clarify any issues you may still have regarding verse speaking technique. Mr. Edelstein’s book forces the actor to ask the question "WHY?" constantly, and has proved an invaluable tool for all of the students. You will then apply your new knowledge to a brand new monologue chosen by your instructor as a contrasting piece to your first from Begi Monologue One Class!
ONE session offered:
6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

ONE PLAY FOCUS SCENE STUDY ($380.00) Prerequisite: Student MUST have taken Monologue One, Intermediate Monologue Two, and B2B Scene Study classes. Teacher approval required. This is a 6 week class which explores an individual Shakespeare play in depth, by choosing key scenes involving the major characters. Each actor will have a scene in which he/she plays a larger role, and may be asked to play small roles in other scenes if needed. Sometimes this involves gender-bending, which is AWESOME! It’s a joy to work as a team and explore some of the wonderful puzzles these plays provide as the characters head on in their journeys. The responses to these classes have been tremendous. Serious students only please. These classes are a lot of work and require discipline.
ONE session offered:
6:00 p.m. – 10: 00 p.m.
June 30th - August 11th
(skipping July 7th for Holiday weekend!)

HENRY IV Pts 1 and 2...3.0
'I'll so offend to make offence a skill
Redeeming time, when men think least I will
The story of Prince Hal, whose father, Henry Bolingbroke, usurped the throne of England from Richard II, a young man who was not BORN to be heir to the throne Choosing to spend most of his time in taverns and whorehouses with the fat Knight Sir John Falstaff and a bunch of other crazies, rather than in the Court training for his pending responsibilities as the future King of England.
In addition, Henry the Fourth's precarious rule as King, has caused many uprisings of rebellion throughout the British Isles, and the throne is in constant danger. This is a tale of a reluctant, flawed, brilliant young man, coming to terms with becoming King. Oh...not just ANY King mind you, but, King HENRY V, the greatest king in the history of England!!!
On the journey with him is a fantastic group of simply unforgettable characters: The lovable braggart Falstaff; the loyal best buddy, Poins; the tavern crew of misfits Bardolph , Pistol., Peto and the lovable, , well-intentioned malaprop Mistress Quickly ; King Henry IV, , haunted by his conscience, troubled by his son , the rebels, and his failing health. The Percy family faction....Hal's nemesis , the heroic, fiery Hotspur and his gorgeous amazing wife, Lady Percy; Hotspur's ineffectual wimp of a father, Northumberland;; and the crafty leader of the rebellion, Hotspur's uncle the Duke of Gloucester. We'll also meet Hal's brothers, his father's loyal right-hand -man Westmoreland, the stern Chief Justice, who, historically, actually threw Hal in jail after Hal hit him!
In order to complete this course within 6 weeks, we'll be doing a lot of Part One, with just enough of Part Two to complete Hal's journey!
Please consider joining this FABULOUS story!! CANNOT WAIT!!!!
