 Patterns  Sale Continues!

As we continue to ride out this terrible pandemic, I hope you are all finding new ways to stay creative and productive while also staying safe and healthy!

We are still full of gratitude to those who sell us groceries, deliver our mail and packages and work in the front lines of medical facilities.  In addition, we thank those who are still working diligently to do research in an effort to develop a vaccine so we can all return to our normal lives!

I am keeping all of my patterns, Lorraine Torrence Designs, Grainline Gear and my Quilt pattern Series, on sale at 25% off until we are back to normal, to make it easier for you to sew using my patterns!    Shop now for patterns by clicking here:

And don't forget to take a look at the three instructional videos recently added to my Lorraine's Lessons:
Design Essentials: A Short Primer  (~12 min.)

 Keep Learning

I am still unwilling to go back to in-person classes until we get through this pandemic, so, like so much of learning nowadays, I am offering my 7 month long Design series classes via Zoom now, so you can join in from anywhere in the United States!

The entry level of the class, Design Essentials 1, which I have been teaching for 20 years, meets once a month for approximately 2 hours for 7 months, beginning September 19 via Zoom through Blue Bar Quilts in Madison, WI.  Each month we will be doing exercises focusing on Design Principles and Elements and learning to critique each other's work to better understand what makes our quilts successful - design wise! Register now for the class here:

If you have already taken Design Essentials 1 or even Design Essentials 2 from me  - perhaps when I lived in Seattle - and want to move on the the next level, I am offering a combined Design Essentials 2-3 class on Zoom also!  Remember, Design I is a prerequisite for Design II and Design II is a prerequisite for Design III.  I would love to see you again!  This is also a 7-month long class, which meets once a month for about 2 hours via Zoom through Blue Bar Quilts in Madison, beginning September 20.  Design 2 students will do exercises focusing on Design Sources and Inspiration, and Design 3 students will do series work on their own and we will critique work in class. Register for this level (soon as I send out assignments and information THIS WEEK to get you ready for the first class!  Here is where you register for this class:

 -How I've been Keeping Busy-
I have taken advantage of more stay-at-home-time to make a new wall quilt I've had on my mind for a while now.  It is 38 1/2" x 32 1/2".  I am calling it "Color Flow II."
It is reminiscent of a quilt I made almost 20 years ago, "Color Flow," which was a donation to the Association of Pacific Northwest Quilters which existed then for producing a bi-annual quilt show and offered a collection of quilts for auction as a fundraiser every 2 years.

Wishing you all lots of Creative Juices flowing abundantly and Happy Sewing!
