Dear Parents and Guardians,

This past weekend our second graders made their first Holy Communion. What a beautiful  morning. Our little ones were dressed in their finest to receive the Lord for the first time. Congratulations to our second graders. Thank you to Mrs. Lindberg for preparing her students and to our parents for your support.

This weekend is the long awaited festival for St. Mary’s Catholic Church and School. Everyone outside the scenes has been working hard to bring this event together and I have no doubt the excitement will be fulfilled just as promised. We will begin on Sunday, at 10:00 a.m. with a procession with Our Blessed Mary, from the church for her crowning at Mass, under the oak tree in the backyard of the school. Following Mass, food will be served and the games will begin.

The faculty and staff will be running the little kids games in the front yard and the concession stand in the gym. Students in grades 3-8 are invited to sign up and help us have fun. The sign up sheet is in the office. Parents who would also like to volunteer should contact Mrs. Wyles.

Please remember there will be no school on Monday, May 2nd, for Festival clean up. All help will be welcomed on that day. If you would like to join the clean up crew please let me know.

Tuition Assistance Applications have begun to be processed. Thank you to all who completed your applications on time. As applications are verified, and financial obligations have been completed, I will contact you regarding the amount of assistance you qualify for and you will be able to set up your plan for 2022-2023 school year with Ms. Giannotti. If you are unsure of your financial obligations being up to date, or what these may be, please call Ms. Giannotti

Families who have applied for the ACE scholarship will be notified of this amount in June. This will be part of the assistance already granted and not added to your tuition assistance for 2022-2023 school year. The ACE scholarship monies are allowing us to provide more scholarships across our family population.

Have a wonderful week and thank you for all you do to support St. Mary’s Catholic School.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Wyles

May Crowning
During the month of May – a month named for and dedicated to Mary – St. Mary’s Catholic School traditionally honors Mary with a special May Crowning ceremony. Each year our 8th graders are given the opportunity to write essays describing the impact our Blessed Mother has had on their lives. The student(s) whose essay best exemplifies this theme is/are selected to crown Mary. Students are preparing their essays at this time. The winner will be announced soon.

On Friday, the 6th of May, at 9:00 a.m., all students are invited to bring flowers to honor Mary. Students will gather outside at the grotto placing their flowers, with our 8th graders assistance, around our Blessed Mother, followed by the crowning of Mary

Tuition Assistance
Tuition Assistance applications for the 22-23 school year were due on April 14th for current families. If you missed this deadline, late applications will still be considered only after the first tuition payment has been made for the 22-23 school year.

Those who received tuition assistance for the 21-22 school year, please note that there is still time to raise money for the tuition assistance fund. Walking for Education pledges are being collected through May 6th.

Please reach out to Ms. Giannotti with any questions at mgiannotti@stmarys-temple.org.

Sports Awards

We are making changes to our Sports Awards this year. To ensure that all students can be present, and have their peers present, we will hold the awards during lunch time 12:30 on May 17th. Parents are invited to attend if they are free. We will be handing out the participation certificates and recognize all students who have represented St. Mary’s Catholic School sports.

Earth Day News
This past Saturday, Girls Scouts and Daisies from Troop #21209 planted a oak tree on the St. Mary's Ground as part of their Earth Day badge project. Thank you girls for the wonderful gift to our SMCS grounds and to the Everett's for their guidance as always!

Classroom Spotlight: This week is First Grade

Our first grade students did an outstanding job of reading at our school Mass last week! Students were given their reading before Easter Break to practice at home and it was also incorporated into their daily Religion lessons. They will also do the readings at this week's Mass with different students. Great job 1st grade!
