Hi friends,

Welcome to summer! Things with my work are busy as ever – in a good way.

Here’s the latest from me: First off, I’m planning a re-branding party in August in the Denver area. I’ll provide some drinks and bites, and would love for you to be there (especially if you live in in Colorado). No single day is going to work for everyone, but could you let me know which of these dates works for you? I’d really appreciate it and love to see you there!

Later this week I’ll be visiting Salt Lake City for the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children’s annual conference. If you’re interested but can’t make it, you’re welcome to check out the research I’m presenting on the economic implications of child abuse on your own.

On July 9th, I’m going to be presenting some of the things I’ve learned about maximizing your organizations data assets with the Nonprofit Learning Lab – register here.

And finally, I wanted to share a few practical resources that might just save you a little time, for whatever else your summer may bring

DON'T JUST SHOW YOUR DATA - TELL A STORY WITH IT!

I recently finished reading this book with some friends, and it gave me several ideas for clearer data visualization that I could apply right away. I think many of you will find the lessons in this book as helpful as I did ( and let me know if you want to borrow it).
ICONS FOR EVERYTHING

ICONS FOR EVERYTHING

One of my favorite ways to add visual interest to a presentation is through using icons - they're more versatile than photos and look professional. Check out The Noun Project and Icon8 for all the icons you'll ever need, for free.

3 QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK WHEN LOOKING AT YOUR DATA

You’ve collected the data, now what? My friends at ResultsLab have thought quite a bit about this. Before you start analyzing, stop and ask these 3 key questions to ensure you get the most out of your data.

In the second part of my blog series I explore what a theory of change is, why it is so important for measuring impact, and how to create one for your organization. This is the second blog in a series with my friends at Uncharted – if you missed part 1, click here.

Let’s Catchup

Can’t make any of my events? Let’s catch up when you have time... as always, coffee or tea on me! Or if you’re feeling adventurous, let’s meet over a hike.
