Winter Holiday Cookie Bar for Our Teachers

It’s almost the winter holiday break, so let’s show our teachers how much we appreciate them with a self-serve cookie buffet on Thursday, December 13, 2018. We are asking for your very best baking skills to make a dozen cookies for our teachers to pick and choose from so they can create their own holiday gift box of cookies!

We appreciate all donations...your best homemade recipe is ideal, but store-bought is also a great option! No baking skills? No time? No problem! You can also make a modest donation as well!

Please send a dozen cookies, either with your student to school, or come in and say hello to us as we set up in Room 211 from 8 AM-10 AM on Thursday, December 13, 2018 (the last regular school day before ACPs). Please bring cookies in a disposable container. We have display trays at school.

When you sign up below, please specify what type of cookie you're bringing--such as chocolate chip, gingerbread, sugar, blossom, cream filled, oatmeal raisin, fig newton, brownies, cake balls, etc! Let's try to make sure we give teachers a good variety!

Food allergies: Several teachers are allergic to nuts and cinnamon. Please note if you have these in your recipes. Thank you!

Please see the Sign Up Genius for more info, thanks!!

Robotics Qualifier Needs Volunteers!

Students Earn Volunteer Hours!

On Saturday December 15th, SEM is hosting a 30 team official qualifying tournament. We first did this last year and it was seen as a premier event that served to underline SEM's reputation as the place to be for STEM education.

We need to recruit about 60 volunteers to pull this off. SEM robotics teams will be helping run the tournament instead of competing. We are looking for staff, parents and students who would like to contribute their time and expertise to hosting a first-rate event.

Please have patience with the Sign Up process. It involves getting an account and following a few steps. It's necessary for such a large event involving students. Thank you!

Full details on roles and how to volunteer are on the Iron Reign website:

Although no longer in the running for the state championship, the ‘District of Doom’ left it all on the field, with no regrets. Great job RJ and the Cedar Hill Longhorns! Link to the Dallas Morning News story here

Congratulations to SEM senior Amanda Blewett for being named to the 1st team - All District! Amanda is a crucial team member on the Woodrow Wilson High School Varsity Volleyball team! Amanda wears #8, and her sister Elizabeth (TAG junior) wears #5 and was named to the 2nd team - All District. Congratulations to Amanda and Elizabeth!  (Amanda is pictured third from the right)

Congratulations to our SEM runners Claire Agee and Tomisin Ogunfunmi at the Townview Turkey Trot sponsored by the Physical Education Department!
