AP Exams will be administered this week: Monday, May 13th through Friday, May 17th. Attached is the testing schedule for your reference. If your child has a morning test, please be sure that they get a good night's sleep, have breakfast, and arrive at school by 7:30 am. Great News! SEM PTSA received 5 awards recognizing the increase in our membership.

Congrats to all the volunteers and to our Membership Committee led by Alejandra Madrigales!
  • In the fall we made the October increase award.
  • In November, the PTSA received the 100+ Club Award recognizing it had increased membership to over 100 members. 
  • In December, the PTSA received the President's Award.
  • In February, the XO award was received.
  • In March, the PTSA received the 3 Year High Award recognizing our membership numbers had hit the highest amount in 3 years!
Yearbooks Have Arrived!

Pre-purchased yearbooks will be available for pick up after school on Monday, May 13th outside the SEM office. PTSA has the financial lists of all families who have purchased a book. Books will be signed out only if your name is on the list. PTSA will have a small supply of extra books for sale on Wednesday, May 15th after school, on a first come first served basis.

The Perry Initiative

The Perry Initiative partners with medical centers, universities, and high schools to host Perry Outreach Programs for young women in high school. These day-long programs are held at over 30 locations nationwide throughout the year. Participants perform mock orthopaedic surgeries and conduct biomechanical engineering experiments, while also hearing from prominent women engineers and surgeons in the field.

Perry Initiative Medical Student Outreach Programs are hosted by medical schools and connect students to orthopaedic surgeon mentors and like-minded peers, as well as introduce fracture fixation techniques and power tools. Click here to learn more about it!




The Deloitte Team Tech Challenge

Scholastic is excited to share with you an awesome summer tech opportunity in Dallas for the rising high school seniors of the Science and Engineering Magnet School.

The Deloitte Team Tech Challenge is a free, three-day workshop packed with tech, career insights, college-prep, and team collaborations culminating in a tech innovation competition with a $250 prize for each winning student! It’s coming to Dallas this July 23-25.

Designed with ambitious STEM-enthusiastic students in mind, the Deloitte Team Tech Challenge brings together various important components for this pivotal moment in your students’ academic lives as they prepare to transition to college or the workplace: Lively discussions and explorations defining analytics, AI, and blockchain so that students feel empowered to use these tools

A team competition where students will develop a plan using technology to tackle a community issue that most concerns them. A game plan to develop confidence when managing time, stress, and self-care so that they are better prepared for college and beyond. Firsthand insights from tech professionals about the multitude of career opportunities for STEM students.

The application deadline is May 24, 2019—please spread the word! We hope to see our students there.

Show Your Appreciation for Townview Big D Marching Band with Donations!
 
Have you enjoyed the Townview Big D Marching Band school performances this year?!? Please show your appreciation by sending the 15 band seniors off to college in style!  The Band is collecting school supplies, personal items, and small items for dorm life that will fill backpacks to be given to each graduating senior band.  A box for donated items is in the SEM office from now until Friday, March 17.

SEM Summer PE

Please complete this enrollment link for SEM Summer PE.
Summer PE starts on Monday, June 3rd through Friday, June 21st 2019. Summer PE is Monday through Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.
In order to receive credit, you must attend every day. Bus transportation is not provided.
By completing this registration link you understand the requirements and will attend daily.
