Ambassador Training Meetings Commence

This past week, the Wave 1 parishes hosted their Ambassador Orientations. We are so excited to welcome new families to participate in the Called to Renew effort! Bringing new families into our volunteer program allows us to reach as many people as possible through personal visits.

Next week, your Parish Campaign Directors will host a Visitation Training. This training is meant to provide you with the tools and resources you will need to be successful fundraisers. Here are some time-proven principles of successful fundraising that should always be remembered:

People are inherently generous.
Americans gave over $410 billion to charities in 2017!

People give because they are asked.
People want to be invited to participate in something larger than themselves!

People do not just give to causes; they give to people with causes.
Presenting the case for support to donors is 50% listening and 50% sharing the story. People want to connect with others who share their passions!

People respond best to specific gift requests.
Using specific gift requests allows potential donors to imagine what is really possible within their household over a period of time.

People respond positively to successful endeavors – giving is contagious.
Everyone loves to bandwagon! Consider the 2019 World Series or 2020 Super Bowl…

Previous donors are your best prospects.
The campaign plan works through a phase-by-phase approach, starting with the most active and supportive parishioners. The families you will meet with love your parish and have demonstrated their commitments of time, talent and treasure in the past!

People give to causes they perceive to be personally relevant, urgent, and important.
At the heart of Called to Renew is truly a dedication to parishes. This campaign is about strengthening not only our home, but God’s home – what is more important than that!

Huge Turnout for Holy Family in Artesia!

Fr. John Cordero, who recently returned from a long trip in the Philippines, hosted Holy Family Artesia's Ambassador Orientation this week. Over 60 families attended, totaling to around 100 people. Father spoke passionately about the campaign as he detailed the case for support for his parish. Everyone was eager to hear that the first project tackled will be the Holy Family parking lot, which is in desperate need of expansion. In addition, Fr. Cordero had made two visits that day, and both families agreed to pledge $25,000 on the spot! To date, Father has raised over $100,000 for his parish in his first week back from his trip. Congrats Father!

La Placita boasts great participation!

Fr. Arturo at La Placita in Los Angeles is celebrating the enthusiasm of his community for the campaign, particularly to parochial projects. The parish is excited to install a new HVAC system in meeting rooms where confirmation classes are held and repair the leaky roof. As of this week, Father has received 45 sacrificial gifts from personal visits. The parish has now exceeded $200,000 in pledged commitments!

Congratulations to Fr. Percy Bacani at Precious Blood for achieving the campaign target!

Congratulations to Fr. Percy and the Precious Blood parishioners! In just a couple of weeks, the community came together and sacrificially pledged 101% of the campaign goal. Precious Blood joins St. Kevin, also administered by Fr. Percy, as one of the few parishes in Wave 1 to reach this goal to date. The committee members continue to recruit parishioners and are demonstrating sincerity toward the campaign.

St. Maria Goretti's Campaign Executive Committee shows tremendous hospitality!

St. Maria Goretti’s executive committee pulled out all the stops to host 35 new ambassadors at their orientation on Wednesday. From making phone calls to setting up the parish hall to catering an Italian meal (with prosecco!), they made the meeting warm and fun for fellow parishioners. Enthusiasm for the campaign at this parish has been contagious. We look forward to seeing the parish exceed goal in the coming weeks!

St. Francis Xavier Chapel receives $50,800 in new gifts!

Congratulations to St. Francis Xavier and Fr. Doan Tien Hoang for collecting $50,800 in pledges from five donors this week! Thanks to the parish leadership’s dedication to visits, the parish raised 30% of the campaign goal in just one week. The Campaign Office looks forward to helping the parish build on this momentum!

Fr. Jesus Herrera, pastor of Santa Isabel in Los Angeles, makes Called to Renew a parish priority!

Fr. Jesus is excited about the progress Santa Isabel has made and looks forward to announcing the campaign to the entire parish in the coming weeks. He is also taking this opportunity to learn more about his parishioners through personal visits and about the fundraising process. Fr. has prioritized the campaign and has dedicated his free time to preparing Santa Isabel for the future. The Campaign Office appreciates Father's commitment to the campaign amid his rigorous schedule.

St. Vincent de Paul in Los Angeles receives gifts from the entire Campaign Executive Committee!

Fr. David Nations and Fr. Derek Swanson from St. Vincent de Paul have received pledges from every member of the Campaign Executive Committee. This week the parish reached 21% of the $530,000 target. St. Vincent de Paul will use the donations from Called to Renew to upgrade their sound system, paint the exterior of the parish, and install air conditioning inside church hall. The parish looks forward to seeing these transformative changes!

St. Cecilia in Los Angeles gains more than 30 additional volunteers!

This past Monday evening, Fr. Roman from St. Cecilia hosted an Ambassador Orientation with the help of his Campaign Executive Committee. Despite it being a holiday, there were more than 30 attendees who were attentive and enthusiastic about the campaign. The Campaign Executive Committee and Fr. Roman are meeting one-on-one with the new Ambassadors this week to discuss their participation in the capital campaign.
Campaign Progress Updates

The Called to Renew Campaign is experiencing great success! These numbers are updated as of 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22.

To date, the overall campaign has raised $241,469,504Listed below is the progress of our Pilot and Wave 1 Parish campaigns.

As Catholics, prayer is essential to our everyday life - prayers of praise, prayers of thanks, and prayers of petition. We recognize God as the source of all we are and all we will be. It is by uniting our hearts and minds with God through prayer that we can carry out our work for the good of His Kingdom.

Just as we hear in 1Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

As the message of Called to Renew continues to be shared throughout the Archdiocese, we ask that you continue to keep the success of the campaign in your prayers. A campaign prayer has been created for the Called to Renew effort:

God of love and God of life,
We thank You for your blessings.
Especially the gift of life and the gift of faith.

Father, give us wisdom and courage
and guide us as we call Your family here in Los Angeles to renewal.
Help us to raise up a new generation of missionary disciples
to proclaim the good news of Your mercy
and to serve our brothers and sisters in need.

Fill us with Your Spirit,
that we might call Your sons and daughters
to be priests and deacons and consecrated religious to dedicate their lives to You;
that we might call Your Church
to bring healing to the sick and love to the poor and those in prison;
that we might call our young people
to seek Your beautiful plan for their lives.

Father, give us all new excitement to follow Jesus
and to serve You with all our hearts and all our strength.
Increase our faith and give us confidence to offer You
our gifts, our talents and our treasure —
that we might find our true treasure in heaven with You.

Trusting in the tender love of our Blessed Mother, Queen of the Angels,
we ask all this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
