The First Day of Summer

June 21 marks the official first day of summer. The summer season is a time of relaxation, warm weather, and chances to explore. It can be used as a time to refresh our lives and dive deep on an adventure to renew our spiritual outlook.

With Wave 2 of the Campaign right around the corner, let us take the time reflect on revitalization that summer brings to us.

With renewed and joyful hearts, let us pray:

Father, Creator of all, thank You for summer!
Thank you for the warmth of the sun
and the increased daylight.
Thank You for the beauty I see all around me
and for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy Your creation.
Thank You for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family,
and for the more casual pace of the summer season.
Draw me closer to You this summer.
Teach me how I can pray
no matter where I am or what I am doing.
Warm my soul with the awareness of Your presence
and light my path with Your Word and Counsel.
As I enjoy Your creation, create in me
a pure heart and a hunger and a thirst for You.

Amen.

Our Lady of Guadalupe in Oxnard goes over goal!
Congratulations to Father Manuel Rosiles at Our Lady of Guadalupe for a successful first Commitment Weekend. The parish raised $463,900, bringing them to a total of $1,066,280, which is 121% of their $880,000 goal. Fr. Manuel and his Campaign Executive Committee (CEC) are looking forward to another successful Commitment Weekend. The team is excited to use the Campaign funds to install a parish kitchen, add new parish signage on the grounds, repair the roof and expand the parish office, and establish a rainy-day fund. Many thanks to the hard work and dedication of the CEC; Monica, who is the parish business manager; and Fr. Celso Marquez.

St. Mary in Palmdale goes over goal!
Congratulations to Fr. Vaughn Winters from St. Mary for achieving their Campaign goal. They have raised a total of $1,308,154 which is 102% of their $1,285,000 goal. Many thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Campaign Executive Committee; their Business Manager, Glenda; and the staff at St. Mary. Fr. Vaughn is excited to use the funds to establish a new endowment for the Youth Ministry, as well as support the three neighboring Missions who also contributed to the Campaign.

Santa Isabel Los Angeles Celebrates Success with a Potluck!
This week Santa Isabel celebrated their extraordinary success with a delicious assortment of dishes prepared by the Campaign Executive Committee. They hosted a potluck dinner to commemorate the hard work and dedication that the team put into reaching their goal (see image below). Santa Isabel raised over $500,000 from 174 gifts from parishioners. Fr. Jesus Herrera views the Campaign as a positive experience that will benefit his parish in many ways. The benefit is not only monetary, but also an opportunity for the parish to come together and unite behind a common goal. Fr. Jesus thanked his Campaign Director, Victor Vasquez, for preparing and training him, and being a patient cheerleader throughout the process. When asked what led to his success, his answer is simple, “Stick to the plan, have a positive attitude, and trust in your Campaign Director”. Congratulations Santa Isabel!
