Campaign Executive Committee

This week, pastors and Parish Campaign Directors hosted Campaign Orientations at parishes. During these meetings, pastors discussed the varying ministry projects at the Archdiocese and shared their parish’s unique case for support. Through these meetings, we look to build and develop our Campaign Executive Committee or CEC (see below for Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Downey CEC meeting).

The CEC is an integral part of the Campaign. Through the CEC, we are able to further spread the message of Called to Renew and build excitement in all corners of the parish. The goal of Called to Renew is to give every family the opportunity to participate, and pastors cannot do it alone. We can best realize this goal by integrating the CEC in Campaign outreach efforts. We look forward to continue engaging our CEC and growing our Campaign team in the coming weeks!

Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Downey secures two 6-figure gifts!
Congratulations to Msgr. Lorenzo Miranda at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Downey for collecting  two 6-figure gifts this week! The community at Our Lady of Perpetual Help is rallying behind the local case for support and compelling ministry programs through the Archdiocese. Msgr. Lorenzo preaches how the physical and spiritual needs of the Church go hand-in-hand and sees Called to Renew as a vehicle to enrich both sides of parish life. The community in Downey has pledged $331,300 towards their $1,860,000 enhanced goal. Thank you, Monsignor, for your hard work and inspiring ministry!

St. Clare in Santa Clarita is receives early Campaign support!
Fr. Olin Mayfield at St. Clare in Santa Clarita is off to a great start, having raised $117,100 from just nine pledges in the week following the Wave 2 Kick-Off. Fr. Olin is working hard to reach parishioners at St. Clare so he can communicate the importance of the Called to Renew Campaign. St. Clare is raising funds to update the air conditioning in the church, bring more technology to religious education, and prepare for the future of evangelization through an endowment. Fr. Olin’s passion and enthusiasm for the Campaign is contagious, and we look forward to celebrating continued success at St. Clare!

San Francisco reaches 66% of its Campaign goal!
Congratulations to Fr. Mario Arellano from San Francisco in East Los Angeles for reaching 66% of his Campaign goal. Fr. Mario has raised $154,200 of his $235,000 goal from 16 gifts. The parish ministry groups will be meeting in early September to learn more about Called to Renew and how the Campaign will benefit their parish and community. Campaign renovations at San Francisco include restoring the parish roof, upgrading parish classrooms, and renovating the kitchen and dining area. We are excited to see the transformation Called to Renew will have at San Francisco!

Fr. Sang Tran at Maria Regina in Gardena shares his story!
Fr. Sang Tran at Maria Regina in Gardena opened up to his Campaign Executive Committee on Tuesday. Originally from Vietnam, Fr. Sang arrived in the United States at the steps of St. John’s Seminary with nothing to his name. At St. John’s, Fr. Sang received the support he needed to focus on his priestly formation and connection to Christ. Fr. Sang is passionate about Called to Renew, because he sees how the Campaign will strengthen not only Maria Regina, but also the entire Archdiocese. We are grateful that Fr. Sang allowed us to hear his story, so we can better envision how the Campaign will impact each and every person in the Archdiocese.

St. Finbar in Burbank unties parish leaders with Called to Renew!
Fr. Francis Mendoza called on the leaders in his community to be ambassadors for the Campaign - and they responded with a resounding “yes”! After more than 45 people attended the Wave 2 Kick-Off last week, Fr. Francis hosted more than 60 people at the Campaign Orientation dinner this past Monday. The parishioners were inspired by Father’s vision to create a space that will bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the greater community of Burbank. Congratulations on the incredible turnout!
