Feast day of St. John XXIII:
Reflection on our Unfulfilled Potential and
Our Limitless Possibilities

As members of the Church and laborers in this call to renew, we experience a call to be Church to one another. Our personal approach in Called to Renew is a meaningful aspect in this regard, as we are granted the opportunity to encounter others through the journey of our Campaign. From parish volunteer visits to Archdiocesan ministry efforts, Called to Renew strives to do the work of the Lord in binding His Church together.

Today, we honor the words of St. John XXIII: “Consult not your fears, but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.”

As we discern over the “call to renew” ourselves, we pray that we may also extend this prayer to our families, our parish, and our communities. Let us look to the Gospel to guide our hopes and dreams, our unfulfilled potential, and our limitless possibilities. Let us call on one another to experience this renewal, so as to conform ourselves to the Heart that loves with greater depth each day.

Prayer for Strength
Today we celebrate the feast of Pope John XXIII. Let us reflect on his prayer of strength as we surpass the halfway point of Wave 2:

Every day I need you, Lord, but today especially,
I need some extra strength to face whatever is to come.

This day, more than any other day, I need to feel you near me to
strengthen my Courage and to overcome any fear.

By myself I cannot meet the challenge of the hour.

We are frail human creatures and we need a
Higher Power to sustain us in all that life may bring.

And so, dear Lord, hold my trembling hand.
Be with me, Lord, this day and stretch out your powerful arm to help me.

May your love be upon me as I place all my hope in you.
