Answering the Call to Renew

Called to Renew is focused on giving every parishioner the opportunity to participate in the Campaign. Therefore, participation is key to success.
Commitment Weekends are the ideal event to engage the entire community. In the coming weeks, many parishes in Wave 1 will head into their Commitment Weekends.
During Commitment Weekend, each priest has the chance to make a final request. We hope that you look over the preparation materials provided to you by your Parish Campaign Directors, including both the memo and the script.
It is imperative that ushers are trained to assist with the presentation, that each priest makes a personal appeal to the community, and that each parishioner fills out a pledge card – regardless of their response. Walking parishioners through filling out the pledge card significantly increases the chances of them filling it out properly. Once the Campaign is over, these cards can also help you to update the parish records.
The second Commitment Weekend is as important as the first! Statistics suggest as much as one-third of the congregation changes from week-to-week. Since participation is key to success it is extremely advantageous to have this second event to provide those who were not at Mass the previous week the opportunity to make a decision. On average, the Pilot Wave parishes raised 30% of the original Commitment Weekend offering during the second Commitment Weekend if they made the exact same presentation.

St. Bernadette in Los Angeles gains community support!

Dcn. Jim and the team at St. Bernadette in Los Angeles celebrated Commitment Weekend and raised more that $135,000! The revitalizing key parish projects, particularly refinishing the parking lot and replacing the aging heaters, has incentivized the community to give to Called to Renew. With 124 gifts from 300 families, our Ambassadors are excited to see such widespread support for the Campaign at St. Bernadette. Congratulations!
Mission San Buenaventura's Commitment Weekend exceeds expectations!

Congratulations to Fr. Tom Elewaut and the Campaign Executive Committee (CEC) at Mission San Buenaventura in Ventura for raising $130,285 from 80 gifts this past weekend! Fr. Tom showed great enthusiasm for the Campaign at all the masses, and CEC members were ready to help their fellow parishioners at every mass. The Committee is now focused on following up with the families who are praying about their participation. We wish them continued success as they continue to connect with every family in their parish!

Gustavo and his dedicated Campaign team at San Antonio de Padua for their accomplishments!
St. Mary in Palmdale celebrates its most successful week yet!

This past Sunday, Fr. Vaughn Winter at St. Mary in Palmdale hosted two campaign receptions (English and Spanish) following his two largest masses. Fr. Vaughn used the time to talk up Called to Renew, specifically how his parish’s share of the funds will go toward a Youth Ministry Endowment at the parish. He asked everyone who attended to pledge their support and to encourage others to participate in the upcoming Commitment Weekend. As a result of both receptions, Fr. Vaughn raised $60,000! Through follow-up visits and other contributions, St. Mary brought in $98,500 by the end of the week - its biggest week yet! Congratulations!

Thankful Reflection

As we prepare for Commitment Weekend, let us reflect on the blessings the Lord has provided in our lives and give thanks.

What shall I return to the Lord
for all his goodness to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord.
I will fulfill my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.
I will sacrifice a thanks offering to you
and call on the name of the Lord.
