Why did you get involved in Called to Renew?

"Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Downey is 110 years old and is really starting to show its age. With our own houses we realize things need to be repaired and upgraded to meet our satisfaction and the modernization of time.

The church has thousands of people in it every week. Imagine if you had that much traffic going through your house how much you would have to spend to keep it in proper working condition and in presentable condition.

Last year, we had the pews in the church refurbished. The pews came out beautifully and really changed the presentation inside the church. Again, we were able to refurbish the pews from the outstanding generosity of financial sacrifices of our parishioners.

I think one thing we all need to remember is that Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and School is ours: the parishioners and the community. We have seen many pastors, priests, and teachers come and go. With God’s help, we, the parishioners, have been the one constant variable keeping this parish what it has been, what it is today, and what it will be in the future.

As we look to the future of this parish, we need to invest our financial sacrifices, hard work, prayers, and dedication to our Catholic faith to ensure Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church will be properly maintained and renewed for the generations to follow.

As an individual person, we have many limits to our ability to make change. However, as a “Team,” there are no limits.

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” - Andrew Carnegie

I pray that you will consider helping in this worthwhile Campaign with your sacrificial financial support and the willingness to look ahead to the future generations of parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

Thank you for your time, support, and dedication to our Parish."

Thank you to Jeff Jablonsky, a Campaign Executive Committee member at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Downey, for sharing this testimonial with parishioners at the Ambassador Orientation on Monday night.

We are grateful for your moving words and call to action!

St. Clare parish in Santa Clarita hosts a successful Ambassador Orientation
St. Clare saw an attendance of over 45 parishioners at their Ambassador Orientation. Parishioners were curious and excited about the Campaign and the projects that would be funded through it. Many signed up on the spot for a visitation with one of the Campaign Executive Committee (CEC) members and others expressed interest in being part of the committee. Fr. Olin Mayfield and the CEC are going full steam ahead as they prepare for the Parish Announcement next week.

St. Christopher hosts nearly 60 people at their Ambassador Orientation!
Thank you to the incredible Campaign Executive Committee (CEC) at St. Christopher in West Covina. Earlier this week, the CEC organized a phone-a-thon to remind people about the Ambassador Orientation and drive attendance to the event. On Wednesday night, the faithful at St. Christopher responded! Fr. Joseph Dass hosted 57 parishioners for dinner at Bramble Hall to share Called to Renew and invite their support and participation--see picture below. We are very excited to grow our Campaign team at St. Christopher and spread the message of Called to Renew in West Covina!

Participation in the Campaign Starts with YOU

Making a contribution to the Campaign is a commitment that takes thought and prayer. Determining your gift is an important step to take before asking fellow parishioners to consider making their pledge to the Campaign. Your credibility as an advocate is best demonstrated through your commitment and allows you to speak thoughtfully and honestly about your involvement in the Campaign.

Making your own decision about your participation will open up a conversation about your dedication to your parish and will allow you to better relate to your fellow parishioners. We ask that each person make their own gift to the Called to Renew Campaign before moving out into the community - remember, giving is contagious!
