Light at the Middle of the Tunnel

We're cautiously optimistic about not having to hear the word "pivot" as much in 2021. Still thinking that Zoom has made its mark, food delivery and outside dining will maintain their hold, and that libraries will return to operations, though those may be very different from a year ago. Did the pandemic force libraries to fully embrace contactless services, like curbside pick-up and online card registration? You bet! Are these services, and others, like online book clubs or D&D Teen Meetups going away? Not a chance! And you can be sure your customers will be coming back to your buildings the minute you reopen your physical doors. We're proud that we were able to get so many libraries reconnected with their customers through our suite of products over the past year, and have so much respect for the resilience these institutions have demonstrated in the face of unexpected challenges. - Melissa, Scott and Robert
PITS Stakes a Claim!

PITS® is the funny (at least to us!) acronym for our online library Patron Incident Tracking System that helps fosters a safe space for everyone at your library. See that ® thing? Sure sign that we're really serious about this product! With PITS, your staff can experience clear and consistent incident reporting, send notifications to appropriate staff members and keep track of which patrons are currently suspended or trespassed. We've received lots of compliments from our customers, like this one from Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach (FL) - "... we love PITS…don’t know how we ever got along without it! Thank you so much …also love the wonderful customer service!!!" Check out the video on the Quipu website too.

Two People and a Pup

Quipu Group is delighted to share the news that our staff has recently expanded. Pat Crawford, our new customer support specialist, hails from Bristol, RI and earned her MLIS from the University of Rhode Island in 1991. She served as the Head of Borrower Services at Bryant University and, after a rewarding 21-year career, changed hats and served as the Resource Development Specialist for the United States Sailing Association. Pat is a sailor, powerboater, curler, alpine skier, and snowshoer who adores her spouse and three children: Toby (Cavalier King Charles), and two sibling cats named Macaroni and Cheese.

Our new IT support specialist Rye Keating resides in Pittsburgh, PA and earned his BS in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated with honors and won't let you forget it! Rye has worked in retail grocery management and procurement for the past 14 years. Rye is a musician, roller skater, Muay Thai enthusiast, and history buff. Rye is married to an ILS manager and has way too many fur babies: Freddie, Ramona, Molasses, and Petunia.

Last but not least, Ziggy has joined the Quipu Group as a staff support specialist. We haven't figured out what those specialties are yet - maybe walkies and snackies - but will be sure to keep you posted!
