Using Our Knowledge to Connect Libraries and Their Communities

When we think about Quipu's products and services, we see all the possibility of collaboration, connection, and caring. ePASS brings cultural institutions to the public, eCARD makes it easy for new customers to take advantage of library services, and PITS allows libraries to better protect and support their staff and library users. In 2020, Quipu Group will be celebrating its 15th year in business, and none of it would be possible without our customers. Thank you for continuing to inspire us every day! - Melissa, Robert and Scott

Over 70,000 ePASS Users for New York Libraries This Year

Culture Pass NYC went live a year ago, and beside the astonishing user statistics, the tri-metro libraries (Brooklyn, Queens and New York) have added 17 additional institutions to the pass pool, bringing the total to 50 (newcomer American Museum of Natural History below). The ePASS online anywhere/anytime pass management system creates virtual passes that are made available on the desktop or via mobile device, eliminating the need for staff intervention or patron inconvenience that comes with handling physical passes. According to a NY Times article, some museums have even experienced an uptick in attendance, thanks to the Culture Pass. Click here for a full list of features, demo, and a how-to guide!

eCARD Customer List Grows and Grows!
Quipu Group is delighted to announce the addition of two eCARD online registration customers to its rapidly growing user base - Hamilton Public Library (Ontario) and eiNetwork. In 2018, Hamilton circulated over 6.2 million items to 158,000 registered cardholders, with 3.75 million visits. The eiNetwork serves as the information technology infrastructure for over 75 libraries in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and is a collaboration of the Allegheny County Library Association and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Both Hamilton and eiNetwork are pleased to be able to offer their customers convenient self-registration for library cards online, remotely or onsite. Administrators are equally happy that eCARD verifies and standardizes the address information entered by the patron in real time for addresses in the US and Canada, and ensures that new patrons are within their service areas. eCARD has been implemented with the major ILS solutions, including Innovative (Polaris and Sierra), SirsiDynix (Symphony and Horizon), The Library Corporation (CARL.X) and Evergreen. What do I do in my spare time? Dragon boating!  It's a great workout and a welcoming community of folks.  I was fortunate enough to go to Kaohsiung Taiwan to compete in their Dragon Boat Festival in June 2019.  Dragon Boat Festivals are celebrated in many cities in China and surrounding countries.  It occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar.  Members of our club and others put together a team to represent the Seattle-Kaohsiung Sister City Association. We competed in the international division in traditional dragon boats which are all wood, heavy as all get out, and beautifully carved and decorated. (We're the team closest to the camera.) We also competed in a tug-of-war. (I'm the one with the white hair. :-))  It was an honor to compete and to participate in cultural exchange opportunities throughout Taiwan. Paddles up! - Carol Gyger
