MFL Department – Language Celebration Week to Mark the European Day of Languages. 
Here are the events that we will be hosting in the MFL department

Advance Notice:  Parents’ Forum – Wednesday 2nd October 7pm
The Parents’ Forum is an exciting way to enhance the School Community and engage with the wider Merchants’ Family and get involved!   At the next meeting in particular we will be discussing the impressive events we have planned to celebrate the 400th anniversary of our foundation.  Please do come along– more details to follow in the next bulletin.

Medicine and Healthcare Workshops – Thursday 26th September 2019 – MTGS Library 
Our Making the Most of Sixth Form workshop covers the following: 
L6 (1.15 – 2.15pm) 
-    what health courses can you apply for
-       what to look for in a health course and university
-     the importance and skills and a self-analysis of current skills
-     the importance of work experience and reflecting on that experience.
U6 (2.30 – 3.30pm)
-    preparing for interview 

Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons have resumed this week for Year 7 boys.  During this academic year all Year 7 boys will swim for two half terms each.  A limited amount of pool space has been obtained at Kirkby Leisure Centre on a Wednesday for swim squad training.  There are a few places left if anyone who has not yet been invited would like to register an interest in attending. Please email Mr Whalley.

Medical Questionnaires – All Years
Thank you to those parents who have completed the online medical questionnaire. This week we have received over 600 responses, thank you.  If you are yet to reply would you please do this over the weekend. Click HERE.

Boys interested in Music
For those interested in playing an instrument, Beginners Evening on the 25th of September has been cancelled. In its place there will be several musical performances in assemblies to introduce boys to new and exciting musical opportunities whilst inspiring them to try something new. If you are interested in signing your child up for music lessons, please do so using the following form.

We are pleased to offer a lifetime memory with your son at the inaugural ‘Mother & Son’ Night.  This single evening program is an event we have planned especially for our Year 7 students and their mothers (or female mentors).

We are delighted to offer you an opportunity to experience a lifetime memory with your son at the inaugural ‘Father & Son’ Night.  This innovative single evening program is an event we have planned especially for our Year 8 students and their fathers (or male mentors). We think this is a great time to bring you together.

Firstpoint USA
We would like to invite you to attend a presentation by FirstPoint USA, who are visiting school to deliver an information workshop on Wednesday 25th September at 4.30pm in the Library at Merchant Taylors’ Boys’ School. 

The workshop will focus on US sports scholarships and the US university admissions process. It will provide a detailed insight into the US collegiate sporting system and the vast array of opportunities available to young sports men and women.
