Swim Squad Training on Wednesdays 
Swim squad training resumes on Wednesday 15th January 2020

CCF Army Section Weapon Training Day - Sunday 26th January (MTBS)
The aim of the day is to give cadets the opportunity to be trained on and to fire the Cadet Small Bore Target Rifle at the school Indoor Range. It will be run by qualified CCF Officers. Cadets are to assemble at the Merchant Taylors’ Boys' School at 08.30am. The day is due to finish at 4.00pm. All Army recruit cadets are expected to attend.

CCF Army Annual Camp - Saturday 4th July - Saturday 11th July 2020.
Click HERE for information on the Annual Summer Camp. Places are limited to 60 cadets and will be allocated on a first come basis.

Breadmaking Masterclass Thursday January 16th 4.15 - 5.45pm in MTBS Dining Room

Learn the basic skills of bread making with these delicious breads, fougasse, rosemary & sea salt focaccia & seeded knots. You will learn how to prepare a basic mix with Jan & Steve from Chartwells, proving the dough, forming & baking. You will be able to take your breads home to sample!

There are limited places so if you are interested please see or email Mr Green to put your name down for the Masterclass. You must make sure you can be collected from MTBS at 5.45pm when the class finishes. There will be a waiting list if there is more interest than there are places.

Operation Wallacea Trip to Hondoras Information Evening 6.30pm Tuesday 21st January 2020 
Parents of Year 11 Biologists who are interested in participating in the 2021 Operation Wallacea trip to Honduras are invited to attend an Information Evening on Tuesday 21st January in PE2 in the Sports Centre starting at 6.00pm.

CCF Inspection Day
Advance notice: CCF Annual Inspection Day is due to take place on the afternoon of Friday 24th April 2020 at MTBS. Parents of cadets are invited to attend. Details of the day will be published later this term.
Fundraising Event for School Rugby - 29th February 2020
We are holding a 'Blind Wine & Cheese Night with John Nelson' to raise funds for upcoming rugby tours. We are also looking for any contribution for raffles/prizes. If you are interested in attending this event please click HERE to book.

Jaguar Land Rover Courses over February Half Term for boys interested in Engineering
During the February half-term holidays, Jaguar Land Rover’s Halewood Education Centre will be running a couple of specially designed holiday courses for young people interested in engineering and other related careers:
Young Nuclear Engineer Work Experience at Sellafield Ltd – Years 10 - 13
I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the Young Nuclear Engineer Work Experience Programme at Sellafield Ltd.

The work experience is a week-long placement at their Warrington Offices, solving real engineering problems.  The placements are open to all Year 10,11,12 and 13 students and working as part a project team, they can gain first had experience in all aspects of engineering:

Unilever R&D Port Sunlight 2020 Work Experience Programme
The programme is suitable for Year 12 students interested in a career in science or who plan to study a science based degree course.
Students can apply to take part in a week-long placement commencing on one of the following dates:

15th June 2020
22nd June 2020
29th June 2020
6th July 2020  

The week will include an overview of Unilever as an organisation, the types of careers available in R&D and the recruitment routes, including apprenticeships and Year in Industry.
Students will spend time in the different departments during the week, to gain an overview of the product development process, through formulation development, testing of prototypes and consumer insights. Where possible, they will also gain some practical experience of working in labs.

Applications must be received by 31st January 2020.

Application is not a guarantee of acceptance, and forms received after the closing date will not be considered. All applicants will be notified of the outcome by the end of February 2020. If you would like to apply please contact Mrs Mee for an application form
