Members of Boat Club – Capsize Test – Formby Pool Saturday 14th September 2019 
A capsize test is due to take place on Saturday 14th September at Formby Pool Trust, Elbow Lane, Formby L37 4ED. All participants are to meet at 5.30pm at Formby Pool, collection time from Formby Pool is at 8.30pm. 

Kit required: Swimwear and light clothing to be worn in the pool, towel. 

Permission and medical forms should be completed and pupils MUST bring their completed form with them on Saturday. Without permission / medical forms pupils will not be able to participate. The form can be found HERE

For Boat Club members who are unable to attend this Saturday, there will be other opportunities to complete the capsize drill later this term.
GCSE / A Level Enquiry About Results Deadline
The deadline for enquiries about results is this Thursday 19th September.

Oxbridge/Medics Early UCAS Deadine
U6 UCAS Notice - The deadline for early entry personal statements (Oxbridge/Medics) is this Friday 20th September.

Medical Provision In School & Healthcare Plans
Some parents will have received emails asking for updated information and consent forms regarding medical conditions. These forms need to be returned to the School Nurse immediately.   

The medical room has now been relocated to Milton House.  If you haven’t already done so, please arrange for your son’s medication to be brought to school, in date, clearly labelled you’re your son’s name and form. Thank you

CCF
CCF resumes for all pupils, including new recruits, on Thursday 19th September at MTBS. Pupils to assemble on the Parade Square (next to old gym/pool) at 4.10.

Cricket Awards Evening and Hall of Fame Dinner - Friday 20th September
All boys who played cricket for school teams last term should attend the Awards Evening where batting, bowling and fielding cups will be awarded for each A team, and all the 1st XI cups will be awarded. Refreshments will be provided, and parents are very welcome to attend. This part of the evening will start at 6.00 pm and finish around 7.15 pm.

Immediately afterwards we are holding a dinner in the Library where several former players will be inducted into the MTS Cricket Hall of Fame. If any parents are interested in attending this dinner they should contact  Simon Sutcliffe HERE.
Boys interested in Music
For those interested in playing an instrument, Beginners Evening on the 25th of September has been cancelled. In its place there will be several musical performances in assemblies to introduce boys to new and exciting musical opportunities whilst inspiring them to try something new. If you are interested in signing your child up for music lessons, please do so using the following form.
‘Having a backup to Medicine’ Thursday 19th September 2019 
12.40 lunchtime open to Year 10 and above – ‘Having a back up to Medicine’ in Biology 3 to be delivered by Liverpool University.
Peer Support Training
Peer Support Training for all new peer supporters in the Library Thursday 19th Sept from 1pm-4pm. 
Medicine and Healthcare Workshops – Thursday 26th September 2019 
Our Making the Most of Sixth Form workshop covers the following: 

L6 (1.15 – 2.15pm) 
-    what health courses can you apply for
-       what to look for in a health course and university
-     the importance and skills and a self-analysis of current skills
-     the importance of work experience and reflecting on that experience.

U6 (2.30 – 3.30pm)
-    preparing for interview

Firstpoint USA
We would like to invite you to attend a presentation by FirstPoint USA, who are visiting school to deliver an information workshop on Wednesday 25th September at 4.30pm in the Library at Merchant Taylors’ Boys’ School. 

The workshop will focus on US sports scholarships and the US university admissions process. It will provide a detailed insight into the US collegiate sporting system and the vast array of opportunities available to young sports men and women.
