SJI, REV LNG Begin Construction of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Facility at Connecticut’s Largest Dairy Farm
In November, SJI and development partner REV LNG, LLC broke ground on construction of a 2MM gallon anaerobic digester at Oakridge Dairy, Connecticut’s largest dairy farm. This $12M renewable natural gas (RNG) facility is a pivotal clean energy venture for SJI that will enable Elizabethtown natural gas customers to utilize renewable energy.

In partnership with the NJ Department of Community Affairs and ThoughtSpot, SJI hosted the region’s first Mark Cuban Foundation Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bootcamp for 20 local high school students. The 4-half day program introduced students to AI and machine learning topics, enabling them to study a subject they may have otherwise not had the opportunity to explore. In addition, SJI gifted each student a new computer to celebrate their hard work.
In 2021, SJI and its subsidiaries, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, provided more than half a million dollars to local communities, with SJI’s employees alone raising $155,000 through its annual employee giving campaign. SJI’s support went to organizations that directly impact our region’s most vulnerable communities, which broadly included organizations in the education, nonprofit, healthcare and economic development sectors.
ROI-NJ recently named Shawn Abner-Purnell, VP, Diversity/Inclusion (D&I) and Engagement, and Board Director Sunita Holzer to its annual Influential People of Color List, which aims to spotlight diverse leaders throughout the state whose talents and unique insights bring value to their respective organizations. Abner-Purnell’s recognition falls on the heels of her appointment to Vice President of D&I and Engagement in July 2021.
For the seventh consecutive year, Elizabethtown Gas is ranked Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Residential Natural Gas Service in the East among Midsize Utilities by J.D. Power. In addition to the #1 overall ranking among comparable gas utilities, Elizabethtown Gas achieved the top spot across three study factors: price, corporate citizenship, and communications.
