Good evening --
Here are the latest updates on the COVID-19 outbreak and our organizational efforts to inform and ensure an effective community response:
VIRTUAL MEETING ON BUSINESS SURVEY, COMMUNITY SUPPORT
The Chamber today hosted a virtual meeting of more than 400 participants to discuss results from a recent survey of Greater Madison businesses (conducted in partnership with Destination Madison and Downtown Madison, Inc.) and share updates on strategies underway to support community businesses.
During the meeting, Chamber President Zach Brandon discussed the Chamber's partnership with the City of Madison to ensure up-to-date information is being communicated with area businesses, along with several resources available to employers (see below). Some key points raised by employers include:
--85 percent of employers expect a moderate-to-significant impact on their business
--Concerned about their employees
--Want best practices on social distancing
--Looking for a better understanding on how to manage dispersed teams
--Concerned about near-term expenses
--The most important thing that can be done is making sure their people and vendors and paid.

ASK US: COVID-19 & YOUR BUSINESS
Zach also announced that today the Chamber launched a virtual portal for employers to submit questions relating to community response, best practices for businesses, guidance from local, state and federal authorities, available assistance for affected businesses, and more.
To submit your questions, visit Slido.com and enter the event code #ASK4BIZ (not case-sensitive). The Chamber will collect and aggregate questions and, in collaboration with local public-sector leaders and private-sector subject matter experts, post responses to frequently asked questions in as timely a manner as possible. You will also have the opportunity to vote up questions that you believe are most important.
Questions can also be submitted via email at email@example.com. Responses will be posted on our website at madisonbiz.com/covid19faq.
STATE POLICY RESPONSE
The Chamber is assisting in the development of a state-based public policy response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Please help by sharing your ideas before noon tomorrow (Friday, March 20).
We're looking for ideas that will help employers and workers in the near term. Ideas can range from helping the newly unemployed with emergency unemployment insurance (UI) benefits; specific ways to help shuttered businesses; ways to help businesses with HR issues or health and safety concerns; or any additional challenges you are facing from COVID-19.
Ideas can be related to issues including funding, taxes, licensure, temporary loosening of some agency rules and more. A comprehensive set of proposals will be delivered to the Legislature and Governor in the coming days.
