Addressing the LTC Workforce Crisis

In June, NMHCA Board of Director, Mark Schinnerer, convened a roundtable discussion of long-term care leaders in Washington, DC, at the American Health Care Association's Congressional Briefing to discuss common challenges, which included the workforce crisis. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Issues Final Rule.

On July 31, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the final Fiscal Year 2019 SNF Payment Rule.  Click here to view our summary and here to view AHCA’s webinar on the final rule which includes an overview of changes to the SNF Re-hospitalization Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program, IMPACT Act Quality Reporting Program (QRP) as well as the new SNF payment system, the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM). 

Antimicrobial Stewardship Survey

As part of a statewide coalition of partners, the NMHCA is working to gather baseline data about antimicrobial stewardship programs in long-term care.  We would appreciate you taking the time to complete a brief questionnaire. These questions should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

CNA Conference Scholarships

NMHCA has received CMP funds to send ten CNAs to the National Association of Health Care Assistants CNA Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 21-22.

To be considered, the candidate must submit a short essay outlining their commitment to quality and resident satisfaction along with three letters of recommendation: one from their administrator, one from a resident or family member, and one from a peer. 

  • Minimum of one year of service in current center. 
  • Meet or exceed organizational standards for attendance and professionalism. 
  • Embody the highest standards of the CNA profession. 
  • Be endorsed by elders/residents, center’s leadership, and/or peers. 
  • Receive preferential consideration if they have served for a period of more than 20 years.
