“The aggregate of our joy and suffering . . .
the pale blue dot, the only
home we’ve ever known”
– Carl Sagan (1934 – 1996)

32 years ago, on February 14th,1990, Voyager 1 captured an iconic image of the Earth – known as the “Pale Blue Dot”.  The photo was taken from a staggering 6 billion kilometers away – at the edge of the outer Solar System.

Where are we in this great big giant universe?  How do you see the planet on which your feet rest, Mother Earth, third rock from the sun?  This is the ever-amazing past, present, and future heritage and home of all we know and love.

Here is your chance to showcase your creativity in expressing the beauty, truth, mystery and challenges of our planet Earth, living on Earth, and space exploration with a view of our planet.

Creativity with the theme is always encouraged. We are asking for a  maximum of 6 pieces per artist. Multiple artworks from a series are  encouraged. Artist’s statement is very important. Please include an artist’s  statement that details how each work is relevant to the theme (100 words

URBAN SKETCHERS

Hi Sketchers'

Here's a little insight on Urban Sketchers; It's motto- "We show the world, one drawing at a time!".The Urban Sketchers movement was started on Flickr in 2007 by journalist Gabriel Campanario. In 2009 Campanario established Urban Sketchers as a nonprofit organization...

Urban Sketchers Manifesto:
1. We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
2. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.
3. Our drawings are a record of time and place.
4.We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
5. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
6. We support each other and draw together.
7.We share our drawings online.
8. We show the world, one drawing at a time.

Urban Sketchers next meetup event:

on March 29, 2022
 We will meet at

Cloud 9 Brewery
1750 W State St, Boise, ID 83702

from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
optional 30 minute discussion after till 9pm
Bring your drawing supplies and sketchbooks. We will be inside or outside (depending on the weather).

We'll enjoy friendly/helpful conversations while practicing our craft in depicting  what we see in our surroundings; this too, may be accompanied by one of Cloud 9 favorite foods or beverages..

:)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Everything, absolutely every, single thing that happens in TVAA is powered by volunteers. Without volunteers TVAA would not exist. Because of this fact, here is a spot to look for ways to help out and to give kudos to those have given their time.

KUDOS go to...

Carolyn Greener & Andrew Groth for helping with Nampa Civic Center Art Rotation day for Elemental.

And our hardworking curators: Leslie Jay and Claire Remsberg

And to Lizzie Taylor who deserves a shout out because she helped organize the drop off of artwork for the Initial Point Gallery Exhibit.

Thank you to Gina Brostmeyer for the delicious green appetizers for the opening of the exhibit at IPG.

A special thank you...

There were 55 people in attendance at last night's opening reception.

Garden City's "First Friday" undoubtedly took away from IPG attendance, nonetheless, it was a great opening.

A big shout-out from TVAA should go to Gina Brostmeyer for her LOVELY green-themed refreshments table!

Thanks to all who participated!

The plan is to offer these engagements and add more as they come to us for Illumibrate. They are building sealife and working on costumes. They also have a digital makers opportunity and plan to add more challenges in the coming months. The goal is to build it back up to the energy level that they experienced in 2018 and 2019.
100% of ticket sales and donations and 10% of art sales from this event will go to the Women's and Children's Alliance. Seats for the Steve Eaton Sapphire Room show must be reserved in advance.
SUNDAY, APRIL 24TH
Our first annual JOYFUL is an event celebrating children, art and music. The Riverside Hotel is hosting JOYFUL in the Ballroom on April 24th, 2022. Starting at 11Am and ending at 8PM, JOYFUL is bringing together artists, musicians and the community for Child Abuse Awareness Month and to raise funds for the Women's and Children’s Alliance of Boise. With over 30 artists, vendors, live painting and live music starting at 11am, this event will have something for everyone. 10% of the artist and vendor proceeds will be donated to the Women and Children's Alliance of Boise.

At 5pm the Youth Art Exhibit will be open near the Sapphire Room entrance. Here, we will exhibit the art work of our area’s youth. For many of them, this will be their first time in exhibition. Many are choosing to have their work for sale to the public.
STEVE EATON & FRIENDS
At 7PM Steve Eaton and Friends will be performing in the Sapphire Room. Tickets are required for entrance to this portion of the event and are available at the link below. 100% of ticket sales and donations will go to the WCA.

We will have guest speakers before the performance, and will be taking donations for WCA during the concert.
For years, Steve Eaton has been identified as a unique and innovative songwriter and musician. An Idaho native, Steve has written songs for The Carpenters, Art Garfunkel and Lee Greenwood to name a few. As a performer and band-member, Steve has played on stages in a variety of venues all over the country. He was a member several popular 60s bands including The Fabulous Chancellors, and performed as lead guitarist for Paul Revere and the Raiders. Steve was the founder and co-creator of Fat Chance, a power horn and acoustic rock band originating from Idaho and signed on the RCA/Victor label. Steve has opened for Ray Charles, Blood Sweat and Tears and Carol King. Steve lives in the Boise foothills where he has a recording studio and continues to perform in venues throughout the world.
ABOUT THE WCA
For over 40 years, WCA has been at the forefront of providing services to those healing from domestic abuse and sexual assault. Since its founding, WCA’s crisis program has evolved into one of the most vital, unduplicated, comprehensive programs in our community and region. WCA is proud to be a community leader in providing these critically needed services. The WCA has been an important community partner for over 110 years and providing safe spaces for members of our community has always been at the core of their mission.
WCA was chosen as the beneficiary of our event this year because the services they offer to domestic and sexual abuse survivors has impacted so many lives for the better. They have created a safe haven for survivors to be able to heal, grow and thrive. We are pleased to be able to be part of the first annual JOYFUL event and are looking forward to this fun, uplifting and exciting day!
