What a TREMENDOUS first three days of Rebel Band Camp! We are continuously thankful for our amazing students and their parents for the continued enthusiasm for the upcoming season.

2018 - 2019 Official Band Calendar
Please reference our official band calendar for all band dates, times and locations. Students and parents are encouraged to reference this calendar often for some things are subject to change. We do our absolute best to avoid changing scheduled events. 

All football and contest sites and addresses have been added to the charms calendar along with the full season rehearsal schedule. Please note that there has been a slight update for Monday, August 13th. Rehearsal will be scheduled from 6:00-9:00pm ONLY due to teacher in-service.

Message From The Booster President 

Important Info & Deadline dates:
Summer Meals: These are no longer available for purchase via the website HOWEVER, your student can purchase a ticket each day if they would like to, $7 (cash only). I am up at the band hall each morning at 7am to sell tickets before band begins. Unfortunately, if they wait to talk to me at lunch time, I will not be able to feed them since we place our orders by 8am.

This weeks lunches available for purchase:
Monday - Chick-Fil-A
Tuesday - Domino's
Wednesday - Jersey Mike's
Thursday - Whataburger
Friday - Chick-Fil-A
Spirit Items: T-shirts, duffle bag, golf shirt, decals, show shirt, yard sign. The deadline to purchase these items is August 10th. There will be no orders placed after this date. Items should arrive by our first booster meeting on 9/4/18.
FULL Marching Season Meal Plan: This covers football game meals & competition day meals. The meals for football game days are prepared & served by Hays CISD catering. The meals for competition days are fast food. The deadline to purchase this plan is August 20th. This is completely optional; if you decide not to purchase this plan, you are free to send food with your student or bring it to them. They eat in the Hays High School cafeteria immediately following school dismissal on football game days BEFORE they change into their uniforms. They are not allowed to get food from the concession stand or have food brought to them in the stands during a game. Competition days are not as easy as we don't know when & where kids will be during meal times.
Competition ONLY meal plan: This plan does not cover football game day meals; this is for competitions only. The deadline to purchase this plan is 9/20/18. Please note that on competition days, we will not know the exact times we will be eating during the day & they may or may not have cell phones on them during competitions so getting food to your student will be extremely difficult.
You do not need to purchase both of these meal plans --- either the FULL marching season plan  (games & competition) OR competition only plan.

First Band Booster Meeting


The Hays Rebel Band operates off of the wonderful enthusiasm and support of our FANTASTIC booster organization! The Hays Band Boosters organization is dedicated to the support of the students, directors, and the mission of the band program as they strive towards the highest level of curricular and artistic goals in music education and performance.

Booster membership is open to any band families and friends who are willing to assist in a variety of booster events. Some of these events include:

Chaperoning Football Games
Chaperoning Band Marching Contest
Chaperoning Band Community Events
Chaperoning Band UIL Concert Contest
Chaperoning Band Performances In The Community
Assisting With Band Fundraising Events

As a team of Directors and the Band Booster Executive Board - We enthusiastically welcome and encourage ALL band family members to become active booster participants. Together, we can ensure that your band student has the best possible experience here in the Hays Rebel Band! Our boosters serve as the backbone of our program and for that we are incredibly thankful for the wonderful team we have here at Hays High School!! 

Please note that all booster meetings will now be held the first TUESDAY of every month. This is different than previous years. We understand that many families attend church on Wednesday afternoons, therefore we would like to keep those days open for all band families.

Rebel Round-Up 2018

REBEL ROUND-UP INFORMATION (Different for Juniors than what was sent via email). Rebel Round-up is coming soon! Here's the schedule!

August 15th and 16th Band Schedule is 1-4 PM and 6-9 PM. 

August 15th
  • Seniors have no conflict - you will attend Rebel Round-up in the AM and band in the Afternoon/evening.
  • Sophomores will be dismissed from band at 2:30 PM and expected to return once you are done.
August 16th
  • Juniors will be excused from 1:30 - 2:30 PM (or as soon as you are done) THIS IS DIFFERENT than the email sent earlier.
9th Graders and Parents
On August 16th, Hays HS 9th graders are expected to go to Rebel Rush (fish camp). It is from 8:30AM-3PM. We have marching band that day 1pm - 4pm and 6pm - 9pm. All freshmen that are attending Rebel Rush are excused from 1pm - 3pm. Please come over to band as soon as you are done and we will catch everyone up on what was missed.
Band Registration Make-Up Day
August 13th, 2018 - 1:00-3:00pm
Hays High School Band Hall

This will be the only make-up registration day for any students who missed our original band registration day. Please make sure to bring any forms that you still need to turn in for your band student. All physicals MUST be turned in on this day if the student has not turned in their physical already. 

No student will be allowed to join the band for rehearsal this afternoon unless their physical has been turned in!

Please make sure that you bring a pair of compression shorts and  compression shirt to registration. You will be fitted for your uniform during this make-up day. 
Deadline to Order Spirit Items Quickly Approaching!

The Hays Band Booster store is now open and accepting payments for meal plans, booster payments and select spirit items. You can view all booster store items on our website. Deadline to purchase items is August 10th, 2018!
  • To all of our AWESOME and AMAZING Rebel Band members for pushing through the first three days of camp! Trust the process and hold each other accountable. This is YOUR program! You have the ability to make it WONDERFUL!
  • To ALL who made registration day a big success! Thanks to the parents and students for your patience. The AC is back up and running...! 
  • To the hard working section leaders for helping clean and refine their sections out on the field. Remember that this is YOUR program and you have all the potential to make it GREAT!! 
  • To our AWESOME Drum Major team for showing up early and staying late, making sure that our days are efficient and smooth sailing! True leadership! 
  • To our music librarians for constantly working to make sure that all members of the Rebel Band have all the music they need to make great music. 
  • To our Drumline for learning all the cadences, part 1 and dance team tunes in just three days! Sounding good! 
  • To our color guard members for showcasing and modeling this years uniforms! They look AMAZING!!  Can't wait to see them on the field! 
  • To our booster moms for making lunch a breeze each and every day! 
  • To Mrs. Allen for taking the rags home and washing them each day for our band members! 
  • To our awesome marching techs, Mr. Bonillas and Mr. Connally for their contributions to our daily rehearsals. We are lucky to have such dedicated techs! 
  • To our music tech, Mr. Pehl for his assistance in our morning and afternoon rehearsals! 
  • To our awesome and amazing color guard techs! Ms. Ruiz and Ms. Merritt rock!! 
  • Summer Band Week Two - August 6th-10 (7:30am-5:00pm)
  • Summer Band Week Three - August 13th-17th (1:00-4:00pm / 6:00-9:00pm)
  • Please note that Monday, August 13th will be 6:00-9:00pm ONLY due to teacher in-service. 
  • Make-Up Band Registration Day - August 13th. 1:00-3:00pm.
  • Summer Band Week Four - August 20th-23rd (6:00-9:00pm)
  • Please note that Wednesday, August 22nd will be 5:00-9:00pm.
  • Red and Blue Barbecue - August 22nd.  Event held at Bob Shelton Stadium on campus. Celebrating ALL fall sport athletes (Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Tennis, Cheer, Highsteppers and Band). BBQ meal @ 6:30 - $12 at the door; Festivities kick off at 8:00 pm in Shelton Stadium. Don't miss out!! Band will rehearse from 5:00-8:00pm this day and then perform from 8:00-9:00pm for the event. 
  • Rebel Band Parent Showcase / Ice Cream Social - August 23rd at 7:30pm. Event held at Bob Shelton Stadium on campus. This event is free and open to the public. 
  • First day of school - August 27th. Rehearsal from 5:00-8:00pm. 
  • First morning rehearsal - August 28th. Rehearsal from 6:50-8:20am. 
  • Morning rehearsal - August 30th. 6:50-8:20am.
  • Morning rehearsal - August 31st. 6:50-8:20am.
  • First football game of the season - August 31st. Hays vs San Marcos @ San Marcos. 7:30pm - Rattler Stadium (4660 TX-123; San Marcos, TX 78666)
  • First Booster Meeting - September 4th. 6:30pm in the Hays High School Band Hall.
