Flip folder with ALL music (each member must have their own flip folder)
Lyre to hold music. (each member must have their own lyre)
Red water jug (filled with water.)
Hays Band Shirt
Compression Shorts
Black Band Shoes
LONG Black Socks (Mid-Calf)
Inhalers (if needed)

Game Day Meal - IMPORTANT!!!

Students - please remember that our use of the cafeteria on Friday afternoons falls outside of the normal school hours. Therefore it is a courtesy and a privilege to have the additional space to eat and socialize.

When we release from the cafeteria to pick-up uniforms, PLEASE do not leave early. Wait until a Director releases your specific section or table. If everyone gets up and leaves at the same time, this causes a massive congestion in the uniform room and hallway. Please be patient!

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Ineligibility - Grades

The six week grade check period has passed and those students who were failing a class at the six weeks period are no longer eligible per UIL rules. If a student is ineligible, they will not be permitted to participate in football games or marching contest until the nine weeks grading period. However, these students will still be expected to attend all rehearsals this week to teach other students their marching spot/role.

Those students who are failing will have the opportunity to regain their eligibility at the nine weeks grade check. Please keep in mind this also means that those students who are currently passing will risk losing eligibility during this grade check as well. Please stay on top of your students grades! We as a team of directors will work to monitor our students grades as well.

If you are now ineligible but purchased a meal plan at the beginning of the year, you are permitted to receive your lunch on game days. However, once you finish your meal you will need to make arrangements to be picked up.
Message from the Booster President -
Band Family!

THANK YOU to all the parents who helped the band this week from Thursday game-day meal service to chaperoning buses for the Austin High game to the amazing turnout at the PAC cheering as our band headed out to competition.

A HUGE shout out to our band chaperones who were with your kids Saturday from 8am until after midnight, serving meals, adjusting uniforms, hydrating teenagers, cheering in the stands, cleaning buses & any other small or big task to keep our band going!

The PIT CREW parents were on top of everything ALL day...arriving at the school in the dark Saturday morning to load up equipment & props. And immediately after our finals performance with the storm on it’s way, everything was completely loaded and secure before the rain started pouring.

We have AMAZING Rebel Band parents! Thank you all so much!

Texas Marching Classic Recap -

This weekend was another great step forward for the Hays Rebel Band! The Texas Marching Classic has always been a challenging marching contest that host many GREAT bands from across the state.

While the rain held off for most of the day, the heavy winds offered a bit of a challenge for our kiddos heading into prelims. With that said we would like to extend our most sincere thanks to all the wonderful band parents who stepped up and helped our prop crew students out with moving our 10ft back drop panels during the show!! You are true supporters of what we do and we thank you for that. What an interesting challenge it was...! Regardless of the challenges presented by mother nature, our rebel band finished with a top 5 finish in prelims and a third place overall finish in finals! This is great momentum moving into UIL.

After the contest was complete, the directors attended a critique session with the TMC judging staff where we were able to receive feedback and tips on how to further enhance our production "Torn". Looking ahead, we will focus on adding the final touches to our show as well as making changes and refinements.

This weeks rehearsals are crucial to the advancement of our success and we want to challenge our students to really begin taking ownership of the show! Let's work together to make things even better!
Texas Future Music Educators (TFME)

TFME (Texas Future Music Educators) is a wonderful opportunity for our music students here at Hays High School to gain insight into the world of music education. The chapter will be sponsored by Mr. Collins and Mrs. Bills (Hays HS Assistant Choir Director). We will have four meetings throughout the duration of the school year in which we will bring in specialist from our field to come in a talk with your students about opportunities available in music once they graduate from Hays. Guest include faculty from local Universities, Hays Band Alumni, educators from around the district as well as select professionals from across the state of Texas.

Students who are interested in the field of music marketing, music composition and music performance are strongly encouraged to join our organization as well!

Those students who join the organization do not need to be committed to pursuing music past high school. However, this is a great opportunity for those who are on the fence to gain access to the information that they need to be successful musicians in college!

Students who are interested in joining TFME need to attend the first general meeting on Wednesday October 24th. Please see the flyer below for more info.
