SUMMER BAND WEEK 4
August 17th - August 21st

Hello -

Week four is here! Before we look ahead and talk about this week, we wanted to reflect on the past three weeks and thank the community of parents, students and staff who worked together to make the past three weeks safe and successful for our band students. Moving forward, we will continue to implement our protocols and help ensure your student is safe during their time spent on campus!

Going into week four it is important to note that the next two weeks will only be half days for those coming to campus (7:30-11:30am) for in-person instruction. It is also important to note that all full band activities will take place outside and follow all social distancing measures. We have many exciting activities planned these next two weeks.

We have GREAT guest clinicians coming in who will undoubtedly help elevate our band program and energize our students as we push into the final weeks of our 2020 summer band camp! It should be also noted that a lot of instruction will be shared while these guests are out and missing a rehearsal can make staying up to speed difficult for some students.

Following rehearsals, all students will be expected to return home immediately to allow time for them to eat lunch and be ready for their designated virtual master class instruction.

WANT TO JOIN US?:
If you are a student who was has not been on campus these past two weeks but feel you may want to return to campus starting this week, please know that we would love to have you! By no means is there a pressure to return to campus but we want you to know that we are ready to start teaching you as soon as you and your families are comfortable returning to campus.

Booster Announcement

It has been great to see so many of our band kids at the school these past several weeks, rehearsing music and perfecting marching techniques! As we prepare for the upcoming school year, things will look different in the classroom AND for our marching band but we look forward to making this a fantastic one! Boosters will continue to look for ways to raise funds for the band program, and as those opportunities arise, we will get that information to you.  We do have an exciting opportunity for a new fundraiser and will announce this at our first general booster meeting of the ‘20-‘21 school year.

The first general booster meeting will take place via ZOOM, on Tuesday September 1st @ 6:30pm.  (We will send out the meeting link the week prior.) In the meantime, please visit the booster store, on the band website, to join the boosters and to purchase the NEW show shirt for our 2020 marching show…  “Moving Forward.” See shirt info below!

I look forward to seeing your faces on my screen in a few weeks, until then, please stay safe!

Much love,
Lesley Allen

Become A Booster Member
The Hays Band Boosters organization is dedicated to support the students, directors, and the mission of the band program as they strive towards the highest level of curricular and artistic goals in music education and performance. Booster meetings will be held at 6:30 PM on the first Tuesday of each month from September-May (except December). Meetings are generally held in the HHS band hall, and are approximately one hour, except the September meeting, which runs closer to two hours. We are all band parents, so everyone is invited and encouraged to attend meetings- no membership is required to attend meetings give input, suggestions, ideas, or to volunteer. Attending Booster meetings is the best way to stay informed and contribute to band activities. Membership is required to be allowed to vote and for your child to be eligible for a Band Booster Scholarship their senior year. There is no requirement placed upon members to volunteer.

By becoming an official Booster, you are supporting the students directly. Your votes in general meetings allow you to guide our development and fundraising efforts. Our Mission is worthwhile: “The Hays Band Boosters Organization is dedicated to support the students, directors and the mission of the band program as they strive towards the highest level of curricular and artistic goals in music education and performance.”

Membership dues fund our senior scholarships. Membership is required every year your student is a member of the Hays Band beginning in 2018. Please make sure you purchase a membership each year so your child will be eligible for a scholarship. Scholarship amounts are dependent on how many memberships are purchased and how many students apply. Booster membership is not the only criteria.
  • Individual memberships will have the option to receive one booster membership gift, while supplies last.
  • Family memberships will have the option of receiving two booster membership gifts, while supplies last.
