UIL Area Recap -

WOW! What a fun and exciting season it has been so far! This past weekend, the Hays Rebel Band attended the Area D marching contest in San Antonio where they made program history with their first ever 6A finals showing.

Going into finals, there were 32 bands in which only 10 would advance to the afternoon finals block. The Rebel Band clinched the 10th place spot in area prelims. Come the finals performance, our band students really stepped up and had one of the best performances of our 2018 production -  "Torn".

The Rebel Band finished the night 7th place overall to become the Area D alternate for the 2018 Texas State Marching Championship. The final rankings for the Area D contest are as followed:

1st - Ronald Reagan - Advance to State
2nd - Bowie - Advance to State
3rd - CT Johnson - Advance to State
4th - Hendrickson - Advance to State
5th - Cedar Ridge - Advance to State
6th - Round Rock - Advance to State
7th - Hays - State Alternate
8th - Westwood
9th - Churchill
10th - Smithson Valley

As you can see, we are in some GREAT and tough company. Our students are outstanding musicians and deserved to be in the rankings of some of the best bands in the state (and country). This is a huge testament to their dedication and hard work. This is a tremendous step forward for this program and we as a staff could not be more proud and excited!

We also would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all of our amazing band boosters who volunteer time and time again to help ensure smooth and successful days for all of our students. We truly do have some of the best boosters around! To our parents, guardians, family and friends of the Hays Band program, thank you for your continued support and attendance at all events! We hope you will continue to cheer us on at BOA!!!

Important Game Day Info
Please make sure you have the following items for game day:

Instrument with all necessary accessories.
Flip folder with ALL music (each member must have their own flip folder)
Lyre to hold music. (each member must have their own lyre)
Red water jug (filled with water.)
Hays Band Shirt
Compression Shorts
Black Band Shoes
LONG Black Socks (Mid-Calf)
Inhalers (if needed)

Game Day Meal - IMPORTANT!!!

Students - please remember that our use of the cafeteria on Friday afternoons falls outside of the normal school hours. Therefore it is a courtesy and a privilege to have the additional space to eat and socialize.

When we release from the cafeteria to pick-up uniforms, PLEASE do not leave early. Wait until a Director releases your specific section or table. If everyone gets up and leaves at the same time, this causes a massive congestion in the uniform room and hallway. Please be patient!

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Message from the Booster President -

Band Family!

What a fantastic marching season we are having! I have been blessed to be able to attend every game, competition & event with these kids ... they are super talented musicians, hard workers, respectful and a lot of fun! Thank you for getting them where they need to be early in the mornings & for staying up late to pick them up at nights. We are in the final stretch of marching season so hang in there just a little longer.

Please plan to attend our next booster meeting Tuesday, November 6th @ 6:30pm in the Band Hall. Mr. Rauchuber is planning to give us a full report on our marching season success & what to look forward to in the next few months.

Thanks SO much to all our parent volunteers...marching season successes would not happen without you!

Lesley Allen,
Booster President
Senior Band Night:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION for Parents of our Senior Band members:

This Friday night 11/2, during halftime of our home football game, Mr. Rauschuber will be recognizing your Senior and YOU! We invite parents to come down to the track at least 5 minutes before halftime to line up. The band will not perform their show during halftime but will play for the high steppers; after that is complete, we will escort you to meet your senior on the field. Mr. Rauschuber will announce their name and yours (in alpha order) over the PA system to be recognized by our fans. (For example: Jack Andersen, son of Andrew & Samantha Andersen)

In order to make sure we get all the names correct, Please either email me OR text me OR call me with the following ASAP: 1) Correct name, phonetic spelling for your student. 2) Correct name, phonetic spelling for any & all parents who will be on the field with the student. (we ask that this be limited to parents only, no siblings or grandparents on the field during this time)

Immediately after halftime we invite you to stay with your student to take pictures by our props; we will have Chaparral photography there to take these pictures for you but you are certainly welcome to bring your own camera to take pictures. After the game, ALL SENIORS will be invited to meet on the star in the middle of the field for our traditional senior photo.

If you have any questions, please contact me. Lesley Allen Band Booster President 512-775-7187 haysbandboosterspresident@gmail.com
