Summer Means ... Watermelon!

Is there anything that says summer more than watermelon?  Whether you like it plain, with a little salt, frozen for popsicles or sorbet, or dressed up in a salad or a salsa, watermelon is the best!  Remember what they say.... Life is like eating watermelon, you know you're going to get some seeds, just spit them out and take another bite!  Find your watermelon at Barrett Elementary School in Arlington on Saturday, July 21, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.  We'll see you at the Market!

LRFM Vendor Spotlight
Baguette Republic of Sterling, Virginia

Bagette Republic is a traditional artisan baker that produces fresh bread, pastries, and other baked goods at its two bakeries in Virginia.  Baguette Republic owner Dahmane Benarbane arrived in the United States from Algiers, Algeria, in 1990, and baked for Marvelous Market for over 10 years.  In 2006, he established Baguette Republic and the rest is history!  The goods on display at the Lubber Run Farmer Markets are varied, gorgeous to look at, and oh-so-delicious.  You can go the traditional route -- a cheese danish, a blueberry muffin, or a chocolate croissant -- or something more exotic -- like the brioche honey pavet with chocolate chips or raisins, the "euro" danish, or the french-style turnover with peach berry caramel filling.  Either way, grab a baguette or a loaf of fresh bread to take home.  And don't forget the fresh-baked pop-tarts!
