What a term it has been for all of you who are educators? Furthermore, what a 4 month stretch it has been for all of you who are parents and carers? Schools are now out for the summer and I can hear the collective sigh of relief as we put laptops down, work bags away and schoolbooks in cupboards. I hope you all have lots of lovely things planned for a summer of reflecting, restoring and rejuvenating from the craziness of 2020! For me, this is the first summer in 18 years where I am not school-based so I am not getting a summer holiday, but I am looking forward to visiting my family in North Devon and having a break when the schools go back!

I am celebrating as I received a surprise email this week from Anuj Agarwal, the Founder of Feedspot, personally congratulating me that my blog Ethical_Leader has been selected by their panellists as one of the Top 20 Ethical Leadership Blogs on the web! I also received an email from Google to say that I am in the top 100 of #IamRemarkable facilitators, globally!

A highlight this month has been co-hosting a Diversity Roundtable with a large group (nearly 40 attended!) of national stakeholders to discuss the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda in UK education. We are working collaboratively to campaign for a more coherent, cohesive and strategic approach to DEI in our school system. Watch this space!

Reflections on the Last Month

One of the highlights for me last month was supporting my friend Angie Browne with her book launch. Her book, Lighting the Way, builds the case for ethical leadership in the school system. I was honoured to speak at her book launch alongside some of my educational heroes Tom Sherrington and Darren Chetty and sheroes, Diana Osagie, Mary Myatt and Viv Grant.

Our #FastForwardDiversityInclusion webcast series is going from strength to strength. Join us each Sunday morning 10-11am as Isa and I interview a range of Diversity and Inclusion experts, advocates and activists. You can catch up on missed episodes where we chat to global HR leader Rhodora Palomar-Fresnedi, paralympian Liz Wright, Professor Paul Miller and Dr Fran Johnston about their work and their impact in this space. We are learning lots from the insights they have shared.
