Special Edition:

Notes for our first day of classical learning.
Principal's Welcome

Well, this is a very special week, isn't it? We get to be part of Leman Academy right here in Colorado and feast on classical learning together!

I know you are probably very excited, but also maybe a little nervous with anticipation for our first day together. So are we!

Someone once said that whenever you have butterflies in your stomach, you should pay attention because you are about to experience something that you will never forget.

The first day of school - especially for all of us opening a brand new school together - this is one such moment.

Scholars, never forget: this school exists because you are loved. You will be taught and shepherded well. You will form special new relationships this year - some of which will likely be a source of encouragement to you for the rest of your life.

Thank you for joining us in this adventure of a lifetime. We cherish your partnership. Please let me know how I can ever serve your family.

Construction Update

We have our Temporary Certificate of Occupancy! The building has passed all of it's inspections in full. We can't wait to welcome you.

Outside, we have an outdoor court that we plan to use for PE and recess, while the rest of the courtyard and turf areas are being finished. A temporary construction fence to keep scholars in areas that are safe.

The gym floor is being sanded one more time, painted with lines and our crest, then coated with poly. Blechers, accoustical pannels, wall pads, and the scoreboard are being installed. I am told we will be able to use it again in about two weeks.

Classrooms are looking AMAZING. Our teachers and staff are very creative and thoughtful. "Learning is an atmosphere, a discipline, and a life," wrote Charlotte Mason. Our school and staff model this very well already.

The teachers will help me on Thursday to determine what our scholars in the House of Fortitude (our Kindergartners, 4th graders, and 8th graders) will choose for the theme of our first Free Dress Day on Friday, 8/10. We will announce it to scholars by the end of the day.
Scholar Drop-Off & Pick-Up Plan

Every day, when you drop your scholar off for school with us, they will be greeted as they enter the campus by an administrator and we will have our staff providing supervision of the playground, courtyard, and gym every morning when our doors open at 7:30 (even on Wednesdays).

Your child's teacher will join them on the courtyard 10 minutes before class begins for that grade and they will walk in together to begin their day. Parents are welcome to join us on the courtyard.

In order to enter the building, all visitors must stop by the front office with your drivers' license to be scanned for a background check. Visitors must wear the printed label the entire time while on campus.

Please review the start and end times by grade:

Teachers will give opportunities for classroom volunteers to sign up after we get going.

Now, when it comes time for scholars to be picked up at the end of the day, it is vital that we all work together so that it flows smoothly. Our commitment is to make this process safe, efficient, and to not back up traffic on Stroh Rd!

For these reasons, a 15 minute period exists between grades loading up on each side. Middle School periods give us limited flexibility and this Pick-Up schedule allows our 6-8 grade scholars to begin the athletics program immediately after their last period.

At Meet & Greet, most families received a car sign with your family's name and the homeroom teacher's last name, which you must display on your dash, in order for the teacher to deliver your scholar to you. If you do not yet have this car sign, please stop by the front office prior to the time of Pick-Up for your scholar(s).

Otherwise, we will ask that you park, scan your drivers' licence at the Front Office and we will bring your scholar to you there.

Now, because we have staggered release times, you only need to come at the time of your last scholar's Pick-Up. Siblings that release first will go to the lunchroom for a supervised time which we call "Transition" until they are called out with our radios to join you.

Please review these expectations that will help us fulfill this commitment.
  • Teachers will be on time to meet you at the curb.
  • Parents, arrive no more than 5 minutes prior to your grade level pick up.
  • Stay in your vehicle when in the pick up lane.
  • Scholars may not cross the traffic without an adult escort.
  • Transition is ONLY used for families with multiple children.
  • Parents, keep the gates and sidewalks as clear as possible for classes to pass.
  • Alert a staff member carrying a walkie talkie if you need your child from transition.
  • Be kind, friendly and courteous as we all adjust to this new routhine. It will take a week or so to get this moving smoothly.
  • No cell phone use while in the traffic loop or pick up lines.
  • Do not leave gaps between vehicles, keep pulling forward.
  • Any scholars that are not picked up on time, will go to Champions (our afterbell partner), who will assess a fee for their child-supervision services.
If you have two (or more) scholars that release at the same time on two different sides, please email the oldest scholar's teacher and instruct the eldest to walk over to their younger sibling on the other side so that you only stop once to pick up both on the side assigned to the youngest scholar.

Also, please expect this process to get better each week. We will be evaluating how it flows each day and are fully prepared to make adjustments that we believe will improve the experience for all. Stay tuned as we work to tighten this up together in the weeks ahead.

Be sure to please review and follow this PDF visual of the Scholar Pick-Up plan, by grade.
Required Form

As an additional safety measure to make sure your child has a back-up care option on our campus (in case some unforseen event were to prevent you from picking up your child at dismissal time one day), every family is required to complete this form (linked HERE) and turn it in to our Front Office (once we open) or electronically by email to This will allow Champions to care for your child after school ends.

If Champions repeatedly takes in your child after school, they will need to charge you the $20 registration fee as well as for the time for which their staff are providing care for your child after the school day. If you have questions about this process, please email:
Dress Code

Leman Academy of Excellence has a Dress Code Policy. Toward the end of last year, many scholars came to school out of Dress Code. Please review our Dress Code.

Every Friday is Free Dress Day. On these days, clothing must be appropriate (like, not pajamas), clean, and modest. We will have a Theme at least once per month on Fridays which will be announced to scholars and homeroom teachers can communicate it to you. Some examples of what is appropriate to wear on these days includes athletic shorts, T-shirts, jeans, etc.

A few things to check:
  • Skirts, shorts, jumpers and skorts must be lower than your fingers at your side.
  • Loose fitting pants only.
  • Leggings may never be worn as pants but rather under skirts or dresses.
  • No extreme haircuts or color.
  • Boys and Girls free of makeup except for basic coverup.
